The responsibilities of the DTS Technical Lead include technical direction and oversight for the C2BMC Spiral 8.2 Distributed Training System (S8.2 DTS).

The Tech Lead will support the S8.2 DTS Control Account Manager in the management of the development program including providing detailed status for earned value management.

In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for provide technical leadership for the system's development including identifying technical issues & mustering resources to address and resolve these issues, coordinating with associate contractors developing the sim/stim equipment, reporting status at weekly Project Integration Team (PIT) meetings, and working closely with the test and integration team to provide oversight and direction.

In addition, the Tech Lead will work closely with Task Order management to address work scope questions, identify potential improvements, and to help plan for follow-on task orders. The Tech Lead will work closely with the customer addressing questions and concerns.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess an understanding of systems engineering process and principles.

Candidate must have experience working in the missile defense domain including operational and technical issues associated with specific areas of the missile defense domain such as engagement management, track management, sensor management, networks, etc.

Familiarity with the application and use of systems engineering tools for requirements management and Object Oriented requirements definition (e.g. DOORS) is required.

Candidates must have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions.

Skills required include: engineering leadership, identification and definition of desired capabilities, fielding of new capabilities, system-of-system definition, integration practices and methods, communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.

The Engineer must understand systems engineering, systems design, development and integration. The successful candidate must have a solid background in modeling and simulation.

Experience in Ballistic Missile defense is required.

Ability to analyze high level needs and using a structured and logical approach refine those needs into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product.

Ability to lead/perform portions of the work and direct the activities of other systems engineers.

Ability to work directly with multiple customer organizations and contractor organizations is a must.

Excellent communications skills are required (written and oral) as is the ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.

Desired skills

Experience using C2BMC processes and methods are desirable. A successful applicant should have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.

Candidates should have experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g. Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.).

First hand knowledge of the models used in the missile defense arena including: OSM, MDST, DESim, EADSim, & SSF would be highly desirable.

The candidate should have previous experience leading complex teams in a key role.

Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project. Experience with training system development desirable.

Familiarity with the C2BMC system and other Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems is desirable.

Familiarity with training methods and systems, and in particular missile defense training systems, is valuable.

Experience is desirable with training system solution implementation in missile defense.
