Job Description

The DMS Manager owns and helps set direction for all platforms and technologies that comprise the firm’s DMS ecosystem. This individual is able to demonstrate an understanding of how lawyers and others in the firm look for and manage information and aligns the technology with those needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day support of the firm’s DMS and ensure the health of the DMS ecosystem 
  • Set technical direction specific to the core DMS platform and related products
  • Serve as the DMS subject matter expert and identify industry trends and new tools
  • Develop expertise and act as lead in related projects (e.g., Wall Builder, Enterprise Search) 
  • Define, document and implement best practices for the DMS 
  • Ensure adherence with policies as set forth by Information Security, Professional Responsibilities and Data Governance teams
  • Provide expertise in how to integrate Enterprise Search with DMS and ensure data is in the proper state
  • Maintain and develop vendor relationships specific to the DMS. Understand vendor product roadmapsIdentify opportunities to leverage and extend DMS platform
  • Provide direct oversight on smaller scale projects and see them through to completion

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degreerequired
  • Law firm experiencepreferred
  • Experience with iManage upgrade preferred
  • 7 years total work experience with a minimum of 5 years in DMS 
  • In-depth knowledge of iManage DeskSite 9 or Work 10 DMS platform
  • Highly developed organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working as part of a group or independently
  • Skilled at meeting strict deadlines under significant time 
  • Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including macros and customization
  • On site during normal working hours and available on site or remotely when necessary before or after normal working hours to monitor, assign, escalate and assist with high priority requests; a flexible schedule is required
  • Required to monitor and respond to email after hours.
  • Ability to engage in off-site travel as required to meet the demands of the job and needs of the firm
