As the Director, Value Added Services Payments, Partnerships & Operations, you will build and lead the partnerships and core payments operations function. You will be responsible for the day to day management and optimization of payments acceptance with direct responsibility to net revenue.
What You’ll Do
In this role you, will serve as a subject matter expert and go-to for the organization when it comes to our current Payments Partnerships & Operations function by owning day-to-day decisions related to our merchant services operations. You will lead a high performing team responsible for; Designing and implementing payment operations policies and procedures and recommend changes to increase efficiency; Ensuring that project/department milestones/goals are met; Partnering cross functionally with key partners (customer support, engineering, product, finance and compliance) to identify payment gaps and produce a workable roadmap of solutions; and Guiding the Product and Engineering teams as they develop their roadmaps. The work of your team will include, although not limited to the following:
Design and execute Appfolio’s payments optimization strategy, including: Ownership of transaction routing; Identification, prioritization and execution of optimization initiatives; Leading our efforts to remove friction from the payments process by optimizing today’s offering, in order to maximize growth and retention.
Lead payment operations, including: Payment fees tracking, analysis and optimization; Payment authorization monitoring and anomaly resolution; Flawless execution of the payments aspects of new product launches; Operational aspects of the payments process are maximized for effectiveness and efficiency.
Drive efficiency, identify errors and system defects through reconciliation exceptions and ensure payment reconciliation
Work with Product and Engineering teams to improve our payment systems by identifying and managing system and process gaps and other optimization opportunities
Build relationships and continuously collaborate with Legal, Compliance and CS to mitigate structural, operational and transactional Payments risk
Contribute to the Payments revenue goals by refining tracking & analyzing metrics to determine opportunities for growth and improvement, and identifying efficiencies across our existing partners.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 10+ years experience, including a minimum of 5 years of merchant payments experience inside a technology company (preferably SaaS or e-commerce
Strong business and financial acumen
Broad experience building, managing, and developing high-performing teams
Experience with partner relationships
Ability to think strategically and effectively operate with flexibility in a high-growth, evolving team environment
Customer-centric mentality and product line management skills
Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management within AppFolio, including: sales, marketing, engineering, product, and finance to understand the broader context for decision making and to achieve goals with cross-functional dependencies
Exceptional communication skills
