Description

THE JOB 

Cox Automotive is seeking a Director of User Experience to lead a UX team that works closely with product and engineering teams to build best in class software for the automotive industry.  They must have leadership capabilities to manage multiple teams across functions and locations while delivering on aggressive deadlines. This role advocates for user centered design techniques, data driven decision processes and high quality aesthetics – all while being the conduit to senior executives on the status of projects across a broad assortment of product families. Our ideal candidate must be a creative thinker and self-starter who can manage a team driving ideation and execution. As a product design leader, they must demonstrate vision and strategy, well-honed judgment, and a high bar for quality. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of the user experience across multiple products

• Work closely with the product team as stakeholders to create best in class user experiences while driving measurable results

 • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to de?ne priorities, build consensus, and coordinate design schedules across multi-discipline teams

 • Drive business case development for strategic technical projects

 • Lead, mentor and guide a group of talented UX Designers and UX Architects

 • Demonstrate thought leadership by contributing subject matter expertise in the areas of information architecture, interaction design, visual design, best practices, usability research, and online behavior

 • Own contract and vendor negotiations and management 

• Drive executive sponsorship by connecting and communicating how design activities align with business goals

 • Implement cross-application and cross company user experience design standards 


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a Product Management or Product Development role
  • 10+ years of leading product development teams using multiple methodologies
  • 10+ years of experience directly managing and leading
  • Strong technical background with the ability to quickly develop deep product knowledge and communicate the business values to the field and customers
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment with geographically distributed team members
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with ability to present and translate complex information to executive, technical, and business partners
  • Ability to contribute to defining a strategic vision and to articulate it in front of a variety of audiences
  • Proven organizational skills; ability to multi-task and work on several assignments concurrently; detail oriented individual
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proven track record of building strong relationships and establishing credibility with customers, prospects, analysts, sales, R&D, and the management team
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Automotive experience is strongly desired
  • Up to 25% travel may be required
