Purchasing Power one of Atlanta’s fastest growing e-retailers is seeking a Director of Transportation & Reverse Logistics to join our Supply Chain team in Atlanta, GA. Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain, The Director of Transportation and Reverse Logistics will be responsible for managing and optimizing Purchasing Power’s direct to consumer shipping operation (small parcel, LTL home delivery). The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing a reverse logistics optimization strategy to streamline operations and increase asset recovery rates.

Job Details – What you’ll do

  • Reevaluate current network of service partners, renegotiate current service agreements and establish strong service partner relationships as well with our shipping partners, outsource return vendors and asset recovery centers
  • Own and improve service provider relationships and shipping budget
  • Partner with other departments to establish seamless carrier processes and full transparency through an integrated service platform to improve customer shipping updates, internal order and return status updates
  • Support implementation of best in class systems capabilities (TMS) to ensure end2end supply chain transparency
  • Develop reverse logistics strategy to drive operational efficiencies and significantly improve return and asset recovery rates to strengthen profitability
  • Establish quality monitoring and significantly reduce damage-based loss rates across categories
  • Extend shipping program and service offering in cooperation with our eCommerce team to drive incremental sales and improve customer experience
  • Improve performance metrics to elevate customer experience
  • Create, foster and manage strong cooperative relationships with all departments within the organization and with external vendor partners
  • Implement industry best practices into our existing outsourcing delivery models to drive internal process improvements, fully supplement vendor shipping capabilities and profitability as well as customer satisfaction
  • Develop high performance culture within team and organization
  • Promote customer centricity within team and the whole organization


  • Master’s degreerequired or equivalent experience in business management
  • Minimum of 10+ years of work experience in relevant environment
  • 7+ years of people management experience in progressively growing role(s)
  • Experience in transportation/ shipping in a retail, ecommerce (B2C/ D2C) is a must, drop-shipment environments strongly preferred
  • Strong reverse logistics experience with proven track record of successfully implemented reverse logistics strategy with significantly improved results is a must
  • Strong fulfillment/ logistics experience in addition to the above is a big plus
  • Experience with TMS/ shipping partner integration and solid understanding of backend systems
  • Broad supply chain knowledge
  • Experience with budget models and previous budget/ P&L responsibility
  • Analytical mindset, fact-based decision maker
  • Strong track record of negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of supply chain cost and margin modelling is a must
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced environment
  • Work independently – self-starter
