Job Description:

This position can be located in Melbourne, FL, Rochester, NY or Herndon, VA.

Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems is looking for Senior Manager with a Systems Engineering background, specializing in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) for spacecraft bus, sensor and ground systems. The selected candidate will work with Harris senior management to establish a new Modeling and Simulation Function within the Harris Engineering Function.  The candidate for this senior level engineering position should be familiar with managing teams of scientists and engineers.  The candidate should be comfortable developing and implementing new organizations.  The candidate needs to have an understanding of space, airborne, and ground architectures in support of developing advanced mission simulations. The candidate should have knowledge and experience in developing advanced solutions utilizing tools to model unique Information Collection and Dissemination Configurations, with the ability to optimize solutions to address customer performance needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee a team of Subject Matter Experts and analysts
  • Stand up an M&S function within the SIS engineering function
  • Define and implement an M&S functional organizational structure under the SIS engineering function
  • Develop and implement a software and hardware baseline architecture for performing M&S
  • Develop policies and procedures to support the M&S function 
  • Meet functional requirements of staffing, recruiting, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of engineering department
  • Ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive and applicable to the business needs
  • Implement process improvement initiatives
  • Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including: review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates 
  • Provide technical evaluation and oversight of program execution 
  • Manage department budgets and identify department training

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 15+ years of software engineering experience OR 
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 13+ years of software engineering experience OR
  • PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 10+ years of software engineering experience 
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in an engineering position
  • TS/SCI or Top Secret

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Understanding and experience in developing new and/or integrating existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, and command and control models.
  • Understanding and experience with developing software that simulates behavior of users and systems and modeling operational environments, performing trade studies, and providing guidance for alternative system architectures.
