Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others and supports patient safety initiatives.
Ensures adequate staffing resources through clinical managers.
Develops consistent policy and protocols for patient care.

Develops and articulates a departmental vision and expectations for performance.
Prepares and manages departmental budgets. Recommends types and amount of resources required. Allocates resources based upon departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Develops Master Staffing Plan for all areas and participates in recruiting.
Reviews financial and operational data evaluating quality of service, workload, revenue and expenses. Takes corrective action as appropriate. Monitors salary and non-salary budget in all assigned areas.
Directs quality control and performance management and improvement activities within the departments.
Knowledgeable about current practices and standards in area of expertise and nursing practice. Utilizes knowledge to lead performance improvement activities. Leads efforts to improve operations and outcomes in patient care units.
Endorses and nurtures a collegial working relationship with physicians.
Adheres to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
Participates in performance improvement and quality improvement activities. Recognizes, supports and utilizes evidence based nursing practices and evidence based management practices.
Participates/supports nursing shared governance activities.
Bachelor's degree in nursing, business, or related healthcare field and five years related experience required. Master's degree in nursing or business or dual degrees in same or related fields and three to five years related experience. Health care experience in clinical setting preferred.
