The Opportunity

The Director, Supplier Software Technical Assistance, reporting to the Executive Director of Platform Architecture and Prototyping, is responsible for leading a team focused on supplier technical support, with a specialization in software.

What you'll be able to do

This person will:
  • Develop and implement strategies for providing technical assistance to suppliers regarding software integration and compatibility with Ford's systems.
  • Manage a team of technical experts to support suppliers in resolving software-related issues.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align supplier software requirements with Ford's technical standards and specifications.
  • Evaluate supplier software performance and provide recommendations for improvement to enhance product quality, along with reliability.
  • Monitor industry trends in software development to identify opportunities for innovation in supplier software solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to software development and integration for automotive applications.
  • Establish relationships with key suppliers to facilitate effective communication and collaboraton on software-related issues.

Functional & Technical Knowledge

The minimum requirements we seek
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development methodologies and practices added value in the context of automotive industry standards such as Diagnostics and AUTOSAR (Classic and Adaptive).

Our preferred requirements
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience in implementing embedded systems including for safety critical embedded systems.
  • Experience of embedded Linux, RTOS and related DevOps systems
  • Demonstrated time in role leading a large multi-disciplined organization focused on delivering development efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills both up and down the organization to achieve the desired results.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated examples of applying systemic thinking, logic and reasoning skills to be able to identify opportunities, alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Organizational skill: Strong collaboration skills, clear and concise direction coupled with an ability to move within the organization to complete work and balance tradeoffs.
  • Strategic thinking: Demonstrated examples of driving strategy from concept through to production.
