Roles & Responsibilities:

The Director of Student Financial Services supervises the daily operations of the Office of Student Financial Service (SFS), including the financial aid and student account functions of ISMMS. S/he works closely with senior leadership in the application and stewardship of the ESI need-based scholarship program, conducts workshops and presentations regarding financial literacy and debt management, and directs all audits, programs reviews and compliance requirements. This position manages front line contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding questions related to financial aid, billing and collections, and works with other Enrollment Services areas to ensure a high degree of customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Financial Aid and Student Accounts functions for ISSMS housed in the Office of Student Financial Services (SFS)
  • Supervise a team of four staff members
  • Manage the SFS operating budget
  • Responsible for the overall operation of the student information systems in the functional areas of financial aid and student accounts to ensure data integrity
  • Establish and execute first-rate customer service practices for SFS
  • Develop strategies to improve student services, increase enrollment (in coordination with Admissions), support retention efforts, and create a positive impact upon institutional cash flow
  • Expand the automation of business processes within the day-to-day operation of the office, and improve on-line services available for students
  • Maintain compliance with all Title IV cash management regulations
  • Monitors all student finance activities to ensure timely file processing, billing, funding and collections
  • Maintain campus bad debt results within established budgetary goals and objectives
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting the allocation of campus-based funds
  • Assist in the coordination of the institution's response to any internal/external audits related to SFS operations
  • Submit federal and state annual reports and re-certifications
  • Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly reports in support of the Office of Student Financial Services
  • Participate as an active member of the institution's leadership committees and ensure accurate and timely communication of financial aid and collection policies and procedures
  • Encourage professional growth and foster cooperation amongst staff members and a collaborative work environment with Medical Education and the Graduate School programs.
  • Attend conferences and workshops to remain current on federal and state regulations as well as professional best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Enrollment Services


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible financial aid and student accounts experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • Strong technological experience with FA computer applications systems
