General Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Global Strategy & Business Development, the Senior Director  Strategy is responsible for driving the identification, prioritization, and initial execution of strategically important growth and operating initiatives across the Gap Brand portfolio. Working across channels, geographies, and business functions, this highly visible team will bring exceptional analytical and project management skills to help drive critical brand initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Identify, prioritize, and on an as needed basis, own the project management of critical growth and operating initiatives across the portfolio. Examples can include new country, new channel, and/or new concept launches; and new capability development and roll-outs

  2. Drive International growth strategies across channels by prioritizing key markets, and building deep knowledge of current capabilities across channels

  3. Serve as the strategy advisor for the Gap Outlet business, providing thought leadership, market and competitive intelligence, and strategic leadership of critical initiatives

  4. Partner with critical functional and business leads on key Omni-channel strategies and initiatives

  5. Provide in-depth market, competitive, and customer insight into the channels and geographies in which Gap operates to help inform and drive the global growth agenda for the brand

  • Very strong analytic and financial modeling skills, with deep understanding of how to link strategy to financial plans and analytics

  • Able to synthesize disperse information into effective strategies and innovative insights, translating complex ideas into simple, actionable recommendations

  • Very strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to communicate with senior executives and become a proactive, trusted advisor and thought leader on strategic issues

  • Strong retail business acumen

  • Demonstrated understanding of retail and consumer-facing businesses

  • Able to assess impact of decisions on overall business

  • Strong financial analysis skills, with deep understanding of key retail P&L drivers

  • Excellent interpersonal and people leadership skills

  • Able to collaborate effectively using broad range of influence styles to drive desired results; works well with others and is considered a true team player

  • Strong executive presence and command skills

  • Proven experience in leading teams including providing direction, understanding resource capability and successfully driving results working with internal or external resources

  • Able to identify barriers to successful implementation and capable of working with teams/leaders to mitigate barriers

  • Approaches conflicts as opportunities; understands others quickly; can find common ground without comprising total position

  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills including ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple manner

  • Very strong project and process management skills

  • Relentless about driving results

MBA from top tier university a plus

7+ years progressive professional experience

Prior experience in a top tier consulting firm strongly preferred

Prior experience in apparel retail strongly preferred, retailexperience of some kind a must

Proven track record of succeeding in commercial, analytically-driven roles

Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects a must

International experiencepreferred
