Job Description The Director of Strategy and Special Projects will drive the annual strategic planning process for the Global Surgical Franchise, focusing on the competitive market environment
•Acts as an in-house consultant by completing strategic & operational special projects and by providing ad hoc program management to critical change efforts
•Assists Head of Surgical Strategy in aligning the organization with the strategy, driving change efforts, and ensuring the progression and integration of business initiatives
•Provides ongoing support to the Global Franchise Head, including preparation of reports to Alcon Senior Management, governing boards, and investors

•Delivers annual strategic plan guidance relative to competitive dynamics and the changing market environment, incorporating competitive intelligence, analyst reports, etc.
•Leads problem-solving sessions for deep-dive strategic topics (e.g., “war gaming”), counseling leaders and providing guidance around problem structuring, interpretation of analyses, action planning, and recommendation synthesis
•Conducts in-depth quantitative analyses to answer key strategic questions (e.g., related to opportunity sizing, market entry attractiveness, etc.) and underlying drivers of business performance
•Liaises with BD&L group and Regional teams to ensure alignment with the global strategy and priorities
•Prepares high quality presentations for internal and external audiences (e.g., ELT meetings, media events, analysts events, customer meetings)
•Actively participates in and runs leadership team monthly meetings, including preparation of agenda and minutes

Minimum requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience
•The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
•10 Years of Relevant Experience or 7 Years with MBA

Preferred:
•3+ years of top-tier management consulting (project manager level or above);
•Medical device experience desirable but not critical
•2+ years of industry work experience
