SUMMARY

The Director of Strategic Supply Chain - Hardware is accountable for the planning and implementation of Supply Chain initiatives, objectives, policies and procedures, and the oversight of the Value Stream management teams. This individual will closely monitor product and material procurement status, daily metrics, key performance indication variances, projected client requirements, internal labor productivity. The Director will lead efforts and take a proactive approach in sourcing and obtaining the best quality and pricing of goods, to ensure profitability in current and projected Distribution sales, Fee based Integrated Supply Management programs and ensure sufficient inventory to meet variable customer demands, specifications and delivery schedules.

The Director of Strategic Supply Chain is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities in accordance with Wesco's Supply Chain goals for products; including, but not limited to training the Value Stream teams in the strategies, techniques and protocol of best sourcing and contracting, issuing appropriate buying authorizations to staff, overseeing the quality of products received, managing the return and supplier credit of defective product; and maintaining appropriate, staffing, supplies and equipment; driving the highest degree of customer service, profitable growth, waste reduction and people productivity, within the area of responsibility; and the development of part family sourcing strategies that provide Wesco with improved Costs, Quality, and Product availability

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Global sourcing strategies for the $500M+ annual bookings for the Hardware part-families
  • Help problem solve procurement/hardware challenges in support of the execution of the procurement of products
  • Mentor/Guide the Value Stream Managers as they develop Part-family specific strategies
  • Assess skills of Value Stream Managers and help each team member create a skills development plan
  • Support supplier contract negotiations
  • Lead/Develop the companies supply chain strategies based on a part-family approach
  • Develop/create/analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for to manage day-to-day procurement activities and take appropriate action to ensure the team meets the vision and goals.
  • Perform risk assessments of suppliers and identify Wesco’s preferred supplier plan for future sourcing activities
  • Prepare and deliver effective Company and customer presentations, and successfully manage the tools and resources necessary to consistently deliver on Wesco promises
  • Develop new supply base contracting methods in support of Wesco’s financial goals
  • Foster/support/maintain the Wesco’s Supplier Relationship philosophy
  • Support/arrange supplier business reviews with senior level executives
  • Monitor market conditions to mitigate cost and/or delivery risks to Wesco
  • Align our supplier contracts with Wesco’s customer contracts to maintain and enhance Wesco’s financial performance
  • Support Wesco’s SIOP process, and ensure Demand Plan and Supply are aligned to support our customer's needs and achieve the financial goals of the company
  • Analyze operational and financial data to forecast and project procurement and warehousing requirements to meet the customers' current and future needs
  • Effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Travel, as necessary to the essential duties of the job

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or Engineering with a major in Supply Chain Management

  • Procurement/Acquisition and Contract Management; or a combination of relevant education and experience

  • APICS - CPIM certification is preferred

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience within Supply Chain Management (Fastener Hardware industry) and/or material planning, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management position

  • Proven industry knowledge and current industry relationships is required

  • Proven ability to make educated or experienced decisions, with positive results

  • Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills

  • Proven critical-thinking ability and methods

  • Strong ability to make analytical decisions regarding inventory planning, acquisition and inventory management

  • Excellent understanding of inventory sourcing and accurate valuation

  • Must be able to provide timely execution and potential problem recognition

  • Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work parameters

  • Ability to effectively lead, train, manage and motivate others to successful completion of goals

  • Strong follow-through and perseverance to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently and ethically with both internal and external customers

  • Strong competency working with integrated data systems, Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and intermediate to advanced Word and Excel (i.e., spreadsheets, formulas, importing and exporting of files, as applicable) as required; and well and inventory management software
