Develops and implements internal and external communication relations strategies that translate complex concepts into simple, clear, meaningful messages for key stakeholders across a variety of messaging platforms and channels.
Creates and maintains organization's strategic message and talking point documents, based on organizations strategic plan and priorities, to which all communications aligns within the enterprise. Part of this process is the development, vetting and adoption of key phrases and language to assist in translating strategy and making communications clear and consistent. Regularly communicates updates as language and strategies evolve to leaders, especially those within Brand Experience.
Creates and maintains supporting visual content consistent with brand voice and standards, to include photography, info-graphics, iconography, video and audio assets. Ensures proper consent and documentation are recorded for use and leverages organizational digital asset management tools to ensure broad access and appropriate use.
Develops and maintains key message grids (or equivalent tools) around major system initiatives such that executives and leaders can easily access primary talking points for same. Creates approach that allow leaders to access to message grids independently as needed.
Creates speeches and remarks for executives with a concentration on support of CEO, COO and CXO that include relevant messaging themes, strategic alignment and support brand position. Provide opportunities for input and refinement with executive which requires working well in advance of deadlines.
Develop and provides briefing documents related to speaking engagements to help executive understand audience key care abouts and priorities, tailoring remarks to reflect understanding of audience needs.
Works to develop speaking calendar for executives to ensure deadlines are met.
Identifies and recommends additional speaking opportunities to advance positions, platforms and initiatives of organization. Attends speech delivery when possible to monitor receptivity to message and identify opportunities for improvement. Shares feedback with executive, works to counsel appropriately.
Develops "voice of the leader" and pulls through preferred phrasing and personal connections when developing speeches, working to identify and understand leaders strengths and opportunities around message delivery. Develops and maintains speaker profile and preferences and works to handle advance work with sponsor organization or event team. Advocates for executive with event sponsor to create best outcome.
Texas Health Platform Development
Develops annual speaking platform(s), presentation(s) and training for use by ALL leaders, ensuring alignment with organizations strategic priorities, key messages and brand voice. Works with Director Internal Comms & Content to drive awareness of platform availability and expectations around use.
Creates approach that allow leaders nimble access to pre-approved presentations around specific issues, thought leadership platforms and organizational initiatives that can be customized for audience/venue to ensure message penetration and consistency among leaders who speak on behalf of Texas Health in community and industry forums.
Develops innovative programs and approaches for sharing messaging platform, content and outcomes. Includes visual translation of messaging strategy through the use of illustration and infographics and the like.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Journalism, Communications, or related field required
Master's Degree Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred
8 years experience that demonstrates steady progression of writing and content development responsibilities; agency background is helpful, health care experience required.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong editor, writer and storyteller. Proven ability to translate complex ideas into simple, clear, compelling messages for use internally and externally. Strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work with all levels of staff (executive, front-line, trustees and physicians) and function effectively in a fast-paced environment. Expert relationship building skills with ability to provide poignant and direct feedback to leadership. Deep knowledge of health care industry, trends and business acumen. Passion for leveraging the dynamic, shifting landscape of health care to drive effective communication initiatives that engage key internal and external stakeholders. Managerial experience with ability to coach and mentor staff. Staff management experience required. Results-oriented and exhibits strong attention to detail. Visionary and innovator, willing to take calculated risks to improve internal and external engagement. Must handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
