Job Title: Director/Senior Director of HR Operations

Epizyme, Inc. is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to rewriting treatment for cancer and other serious diseases through novel epigenetic medicines. Epizyme is broadly developing its lead product candidate, Tazemetostat, a first-in-class EZH2 inhibitor, with studies underway in both solid tumors and hematological malignancies, as a monotherapy and combination therapy in relapsed and front-line disease. Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources & Organizational Development, and with a staff of two, the Director of HR Operations will be responsible for leading the build-out of infrastructure, programs, and processes to enable the delivery of Human Resources services across the organization.

We are expanding the HR team, and this role will work side-by-side with the talent acquisition, HR business partner, and learning & development teams to ensure our HR organization can support Epizyme's evolution and ongoing growth during this exciting time. As a team, we are dedicated to empowering Epizymers to do their best work, within an effective and vibrant organization.

We are looking for a creative, agile, grounded HR leader who is able to bring structure, process, and order to the work -- while also having fun. This is a hands-on opportunity to build for what is needed at Epizyme both now and in the future.

The Director of HR Operations will be responsible for the continued build-out, improvement, and oversight of the day-to-day aspects of the function, including management and oversight of our HR operations, and performance against our HR functional business plan and objectives.

Focus areas include:

Wellness and Benefits

  • Strategy, planning, design, administration, and communication of all benefits and wellness programs
  • Monitoring and review of programs against competitive industry practices, to ensure we stay ahead of the curve
  • Development of creative wellness programs that support our cultural attribute of Resilience

HR Services and Information

  • Redesign and build-out of our HR intranet site, "HR help desk" approach, and self-service capabilities to make HR information and services more accessible to employees and managers
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees with questions around policies, benefits, and other routine inquiries
  • Involvement in internal communications strategy and planning, including keeping our field workforce well-connected
  • Act as a visible leader and "face of HR" to the company

Policy and Compliance

  • Oversee approach for maintaining employee records and files, ensuring integrity, confidentiality, and security of employee data in accordance with relevant laws and standard
  • Monitor and complete any required government audits, reporting, etc., including EEO
  • Compliance, and creation of HR policies, including those associated with commercialization and a field workforce

Performance and Compensation Cycles

  • Oversight of the annual performance, promotion, and compensation cycles, including equity compensation strategy and planning
  • Preparation of materials for presentation to the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors (in partnership with the Head of HR/OD)
  • Involvement in employee relations and performance improvement situations, in conjunction with HRBPs

HR Operations & Process

  • Strategy, implementation/evolution, and oversight of our employee data and HR systems, reporting, metrics, measurement and analytics
  • Vendor & contract management
  • HR budget oversight (in partnership with Head of HR/OD)
  • Process improvement and HR best practices
  • Close partnership with our Corporate Controller, Finance, and Legal functions, to ensure collaboration and seamless connection of processes

In addition, this position includes oversight of our front desk reception, ensuring excellent visitor experience. Regular leadership of/participation in various HR and cross-functional projects in also expected.

Education & Requirements:

  • 10+ years progressively responsible experience leading the Benefits, Compensation, HRIS and/or other applicable HR functional areas, or as an HR Generalist.
  • Experience working in a commercial-stage biotech/pharma environment strongly preferred.
  • Prior background working with ADP and/or other HRIS technology platforms is a plus.
  • People management experience, and experience building and developing an HR team, is a plus.
  • High-degree of program/project management skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and deliver on-time and on budget.
  • Excellent presentation skills, both written and in verbal presentation format.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to gather information, perform analysis, and deliver results.

  • Bachelor's degree is required; MBA/advanced degree or PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
