Description

Reports to the center director. Directly supervises the academic manager, career technical training manager, leadership/evening studies coordinator, and secretary. Responsible for management of academic, career technical training (CTT), and evening study programs in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, coordinate and direct the administrative and programmatic activities of the directorate; assist the center director in overall management of the center. Serve as acting center director in the absence of the center director.
  2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, recommend and implement departmental changes as approved by center management and coordinated with human resources prior to implementation.
  3. Develop and monitor budget; control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.
  4. Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures and written center operating procedures affecting the directorate and subordinate departments; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives.
  5. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
  6. Inspect facility regularly; maintain quality standards. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
  7. Develop and implement procedures, systems and curricula for the center; coordinate CDSS plan development and updates; coordinate the Career Success Standards.
  8. Coordinate with other staff, governmental, state and local agencies in the provision of services to students.
  9. Coordinate with other center staff concerning programmatic matters, including the national training contractors and training subcontractors.
  10. Coordinate and assist in the development of community linkages and volunteers in areas of management responsibility.
  11. Analyze reports monthly and provide recommendations for appropriate program modifications; direct feasibility studies to ascertain employability of students in proposed and current career offerings.
  12. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
  13. Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  14. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
  15. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  16. Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  17. Cultivate and maintain a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related field and four years' experience required, three of which should be in a supervisory capacity. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency also required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
