Job Description

Genesis HealthCare is seeking a Special Treatment Program Director for its 116-bed behavioral health facility in Highland, near San Bernardino. Sierra Vista Behavioral Health Center, which is licensed as a Skilled Nursing Facility, has a state-approved Special Treatment Program to serve adults with chronic and persistent mental illness, including schizophrenia and psychotic, mood and personality disorders.

The Program Director plans, develops, coordinates, and supervises the Special Treatment Program and other therapeutic activity programs which meet the needs and interests of each resident in the facility in accordance with regulatory requirements under state and federal law and Genesis policies and procedures.

Organizes and supervises the provision of activity groups and special rehabilitative services of the Special Treatment Program, including assessment, certification, treatment planning, and direct treatment services.
Coordinates the Special Treatment Program and other treatment services within the overall treatment schedule with other departments in the facility.
Manages the referral and admission processes, partnering with interdisciplinary team members to determine appropriateness of referrals to the facility, including offsite evaluations as needed, and coordinate admissions.
Recruits, trains and supervises Primary Counselors, Mental Health Counselors, Activities and Social Services staff.
Directly monitors program activities and provides direct service to residents, as needed, in order to ensure effective programming supervision.
Monitors the quality of written documentation in the medical record of resident involvement and progress in the program on a regular basis.
Facilitates routine and ad hoc Interdisciplinary Team Meetings.
Works closely with external partners, such as conservators, case managers, family members, patients' rights staff, regulatory agencies, and county contract personnel.
Coordinates community contacts for Special Treatment Program services brought into the facility.
Performs all duties and tasks as assigned.

Must meet one of the following requirements:
-- Bachelor's or higher degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or relevant field from an accredited college or university; and/or
-- CA licensure as RN, LVN or LPT; and/or
-- Qualified Art, Dance, Music, Occupational, or Recreation Therapist.
In addition to the above, state regulation requires at least two years of experience or training in a mental health setting (preferably adult residential behavioral facility), one year of which shall include experience or training in program development for mentally disordered.
One year activity program supervision with employee management experience preferred.
