We are looking for a Director of Product Marketing to join our growing product marketing team. As a core member of the product marketing team, you will help craft and execute strategies and content to drive customer adoption and use of DataStax database offerings, which include our DataStax Distribution of Apache Cassandra and DataStax Enterprise.
You should possess customer and field facing skills that give you the ability to represent DataStax at the customer decision table. Discussions with senior leadership will empower you to understand their business and operational needs and work closely with the DataStax market facing teams to help position DataStax.
You must possess database software expertise and be up-to-date on current trends driving the database market, ready to roll up your sleeves in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and eager to collaborate cross-functionally across marketing, developer relations, product management, and engineering.
You will be responsible for creating product positioning, messaging, and content for our core database product offerings. In addition, you will be developing cross-selling and go-to-market initiatives that span all key influencers and decision makers – from developers to senior technical decision makers to line-of-business executives. Core responsibilities include:
Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, product management, sales, product management, and marketing to build strategic and tactical GTM plans. In order to fine-tune messaging, position new capabilities, and optimize go-to-market strategy and execution you will need to understand the pains, requirements, buying agendas, and evaluation criteria of our key technical personas, including developers, architects, administrators, and executive technical leaders.
Develop value propositions, messaging, case studies, and collateral that supports marketing and field engagements. This role will require you to understand DataStax's competitive landscape in order to effectively and convincingly communicate DataStax's value proposition to the various audiences.
Partner with DataStax GTM success team to own and deliver ongoing field enablement
Identify customer themes needed to explain "Why DataStax" and use these to create a narrative for new logos and use case expansion within the account (e.g. land-and-expand)
Contribute to our DataStax blog, whitepapers, and technical publications as well as represent DataStax in industry conferences, technical events, analyst discussions, etc.
8-10 years of IT infrastructure software experience; at least 3-5 years marketing database technologies preferred
Solid knowledge of database, open source, and cloud technologies
Broad understanding of NoSQL
Understanding of cloud and distributed architectures/applications
Highly effective listening and critical thinking skills
Ability to develop highly impactful and compelling content and messaging
Dynamic presenter with the ability to break down technical concepts into everyday language
Ability to operate in a highly ambiguous and fast-paced environment
