The Director, Product Management, will report directly to the Vice President, Product Strategy & New Product Development (NPD) within the Elsevier Reference Solution group and will have very broad exposure to Elsevier Research Group & Elsevier customers and be a key member of the Elsevier Reference Solutions New Products Development (NPD) team.
The position will work closely with the Elsevier Reference Solutions product management, business development, technology, sales, and marketing teams along with interfacing with customers, solution partners and industry subject matter experts.
Develop strategic plans & opportunities for new product development within Elsevier Reference Solution product portfolio for use case driven decision support information solutions driving innovation & growth in targeted industry segments within Reference Solutions across engineering verticals including chemicals, oil & gas industries etc.
Define and execute on the new product development stage gate process through research, ideation, elaboration and execution phases to clearly identify use cases, solution definition, product roadmap, business case, requirements and release plans for new product launches
Manage and execute on elaboration activities including information and functional requirements for the MVP/roadmap and commercial validation with end-users, buyers and decisions makers within target industry segments and develop business case and investment plans for new product initiatives
Manage and execute on execution activities including developing functional and non-functional requirements (PRDs), MVP launch plans and multi-year roadmaps across industry sub-segments, product packaging and pricing recommendations, and GTM plans, working closely with cross functional teams within Elsevier
Champion data-driven product management by developing and managing user stories and sprint plans for product releases, reviewing test plans with QA and tracking product launch metrics and KPIs for alpha/beta release plans
Develop customer relationship and maintain a customer advisory group for new products development and customer focused research activities through outreach programs, industry events & conferences etc. Manage customer alpha and beta programs for successful launch and adoption of the MVP solution and product roadmap
Analyze 3rd party software components & partnerships as required for product architecture and align with other internal product management, operations, content innovation and technology teams to develop a unified solution for the industry. Engage with internal professional services teams for customer internal data architecture and integration plans definition
Develop GTM and sales enablement plans working closely with Elsevier solution marketing, segment marketing, pricing and sales leaderships teams including value proposition, pricing & packaging recommendations, product positioning, competitive analysis and sales training for successful commercial product launch and revenue growth
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Business & technology experience in software/technology companies providing enterprise digital product solutions to the industry with experience in bringing new products to market
8+ years of product management experience with a track record of leading digital product management end-to-end, from concept through launch through lifecycle management, in a B2B setting
Ability to think structurally about business, employ sophisticated tools with analytical and problem solving skills, and a strong sense of personal ownership and ability to "get things done" with sense of pace and urgency
Ability to create constructive relationships with senior management and peers in a matrix organization and with effective communication and presentation skills with internal/external stakeholders
Ability to rapidly assemble and process large amounts of information and being able to break a question/problem into its constituent elements for problem solving
Demonstrate strong leadership skills and team orientation in leading cross functional teams and effective project management and decision-making skills
Experience closely interacting with customers/advisory groups to help develop & validate product requirements, roadmap, release plans and beta programs for new product launches
