Purpose of Job:

The incumbent will report to the Director and Team Lead, Lean. The incumbent will oversee and be responsible for using lean methodology to roll out several productivity improvement initiatives to various support groups within Corporate Functions areas. The incumbent is expected to bring a significant level of knowledge in order to identify, evaluate and recommend improvements to organizational structure, process and productivity.  The role spans activities from coaching individuals within the support areas, coaching and leading a team of analysts during the productivity rollout, managing multiple concurrent projects, organizing and conducting opportunity review sessions, driving critical diagnostics, identifying opportunities for smart automation, facilitating value stream mapping with large teams, developing future state design and potential benefits, to leading implementations.  Demonstrated experience with business analysis, process improvement and project management methodologies is required. The incumbent will also be expected to present recommendations/solutions/project status to senior management.


The incumbent will effectively manage and supervise departmental and project staff by setting performance expectations, monitoring performance, providing performance feedback including the preparation of performance appraisals, and as needed, providing counsel and coaching, and arranging for formal training. This includes succession planning and the recruiting of qualified staff.


Major Accountabilities:

  • Lead multiple teams to identify opportunities for improvement across theLeanInitiative Core Components; Efficient Processes, Management Systems, Mindsets and Behaviors, Skills and Capabilities and Client Focus utilizing various tools and techniques, including, but not limited to:
    • Time in Motion Analysis
    • Demand, Flow and Capacity Analysis
    • Key Performance Indicators
    • Customer Demand Analysis (Voice of the Customer)
    • Detailed Problem Solving
    • Waste Analysis
  • Analysis of  business processes, develop hypothesis, synthesize findings, and communicate opportunities for improvement 
  • Leverage cost reduction methodologies, including business benefits and costs, implementation and training strategies/plan
  • Work with business partners to develop pipeline of new projects
  • Lead all aspects of the diagnostic, design and implementation stages by working  within cross functional teams
  • Lead change management activities within one or more program waves
  • Oversee several project teams to complete required objectives within a wave to achieve desired targets
  • Facilitate training and workshops, provide consultation to the target business groups in implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for smart automation
  • Complete other duties as assigned


Education / Work Experience / Designations:

  • Graduate degree in business or related discipline. Six SigmaBlack Belt / Lean certification, CFA or PMP designations are assets
  • MBA considered an asset
  • Expert knowledge and more than 7 years of experience in a business, financial or operations setting.
  • Solid management experience in leading multi-stakeholder complex initiatives, proven track record of meeting deliverables on time and within budget
