This position is located in our brand-new Oakland City Center location. This role is a hybrid opportunity that includes traveling to the Oakland office and Physician Office locations as needed.

About Your Work

The Director, Physician Services will help identify and implement programs, services and support in order to provide continuously higher quality of service, as well as improve practice performance and effectiveness. This role oversees physicians' participation with Brown & Toland initial onboarding and throughout their tenure with Brown & Toland. While not inclusive, this includes: assisting physicians in succession planning; monitoring physician satisfaction with staff response times and problem resolution; rolling out value add services (e.g. vaccination inventory, group purchasing etc.), creating and monitoring staff expectations and more.

Manage and develop physician services team members, including performance monitoring and assuring each team member has the resources and training to support them in their role. This role serves as escalation point for network physician issues and help team members with the implementation of solutions that support performance improvement within practices.

You will focus on:

Responsible for maintaining overall direction, structure, brand, and tone of Physician Services. Leads continuous improvement processes for services as well as internal operations, and independently resolves issues with high complexity. Ensures compliance with policy and procedures, health plan contracts, NCQA Standards, health plan delegation models and state and federal laws.
  • Manages and supports overall structure, providing exceptional physician service, establishes and maintains systems for problems tracking and resolution, ensuring high quality professional communication and service to the network.
  • Develops and implements departmental strategies and goals; establishes practice performance targets aligned with BTP needs and holds team members accountable for helping practices achieve those targets.
  • Provides leadership over team members lending support and assistance to physicians and their practices.
  • Actively supports, develops, educates, and implements strategic goals and core values of the organization for all lines of business.
  • Responsible for having a high-level understanding of practice operations, practice technology, tools, workflows, and other physician support needs, including patient/member areas and provider and health plan issues.
  • Leads team responsible for implementing capability enhancements within physician practices and advocates on behalf of the physician network. Proactively works with Brown & Toland business partners to optimize relationship and success of products and services being delivered to physician offices.
  • Responsible for the oversight and dissemination of physician related information, education, qualitative/quantitative data and tools. Functions as they primary resource for identifying and implementing organizational changes that add value to the physicians.
  • Manages interfaces and interdependencies between departments, consistently maintaining knowledge and understanding of the impact to the physicians. Oversees the tracking/trending documentation and completion of tasks. Dedicated to resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Draft policies and procedures as identified by directed by leadership.
  • Builds, cultivates and optimizes relationships with network physicians, seeking higher and broader level of service. Oversees staff education and training of physicians and office staff, seeking newer and more effective ways to impart expertise and increase their knowledge. Delights end users in the orientation of new physicians and office staff joining Brown & Toland, including orientation to Brownandtoland.com, BTCARE, educational material and the maintenance of long-term positive, resourceful and operational tools/support.
  • Acts as a liaison and resource to network, including leadership internally and externally.
  • Responsible for annual departmental budgets, monitor expenditures on a monthly basis and achieve budget on annual basis.
  • Accepts and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including travel.

The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring
Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Business or Healthcare Administration
Minimum Experience: 10 years' hands-on experience with a majority of time spent in healthcare provider space and 6+ years leading teams
  • Possess a working knowledge with Epic from an enterprise standpoint and how to articulate it to the physicians.
  • Initiative-take, accountable and results driven.
  • Ability in developing others and supporting their growth.

  • Ability to lead and mentor teams.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements. We provide a competitive compensation package that recognizes your experience, credentials, and education alongside a robust benefits program to meet your needs.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed in our salary posting for transparency but may vary based on factors including the candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location. This base pay range is specific to California and can vary based on Bay Area, Metro LA, and Greater California regions which may not be applicable to other locations.

Physical Requirements: Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of workday.
