The Director, Oncology Services at Inova Alexandria Hospital directs the multi-disciplinary operations of the Oncology/Cancer Service Line and related programs; coordinates cancer care throughout the facility in collaboration with other disciplines and departments. Responsible for developing and facilitating processes to assure effective cancer care for patients and their families, facilitates collaborative care with other agencies and community resources. Responsible for managing, monitoring, and evaluating oncology patient care systems and patient outcomes. Responsible for facilitating growth of oncology services, resource management, policy and program development, sound fiscal management, APC error reports, code capture and accurate documentation. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication within the hospital, cancer center, the community, and in the professional environment. Develops standards and ensures compliance with practices and regulatory requirements by all personnel in areas of responsibility. Provides leadership, direction, support, development and continuing education of employees. Interacts effectively with medical staff and allied healthcare providers, assuring OR standards of care are supported. Serves as a liaison between the departmental staff, medical staff, and hospital administration. Maintains standards of quality in accordance with accepted national standards, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Three years' related professional experience within Oncology,to include a minimum of two years' direct management experience in an Oncology service line setting.
Experience in quality/process improvement required, with team/process improvement leadership preferred. Excellent organizational, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required. Must have proven record of leadership and effective interaction with medical staff in areas of responsibility. Ability to drive desired results through effective collaboration with others.
