Job Purpose

The Director of Workforce Optimization of is responsible for developing, leading and implementing key strategic projects that have an overall impact on the guest experience. This position provides Senior Management and other leadership with analytics and insights on business performance, specifically areas that have external guest impact.  The position encompasses a unique combination of technical and analytic requirements that help to provide a compelling and actionable assessment of overall operational performance. This position enhances guest service value through the development of innovative strategies and initiatives that provide long-term profitable growth solutions for our locations around the country. The position will collaborate with the Operations team and departments to create guest-focused solutions that meet and exceed our yearly goals.  This may include utilizing statistical analysis to support innovative processes and initiatives to enhance the guest services, interpreting market research to identify new business areas and recommending opportunities for increasing guest and client/partner satisfaction. The candidate should have strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge the status quo, drive creative and innovative thinking and provide strong leadership in order to successfully implement various strategies.


·         Understand and monitor labor market and its impact on Levy strategic objectives

o   Research labor market and understand future changes and potential impact on Levy Restaurants

o   Create annual labor strategy for each line of business based on their strategic objectives (sports, retail, CCs, etc.)

o   Create annual labor budget

o   Create plan for OT and Temp hours

·         Collaborate with operations to establish fixed and variable staffing requirements per LOB

o   Optimal models for management/fixed labor by venue type

o   Optimal capacity planning for variable labor by event type/workforce type/etc (by area: restaurants, clubs, general concessions, suites…. Everyone does this different today…how many people per stand, per club, ratios in premium areas….even within a building they have different ratios and don’t know why they have those ratios)

o   Appropriate KPIs against the requirements, KPIs to determine when growth is needed for the labor force at a venue, etc.

·         Develop processes and controls for labor forecasting

o   Establish consistent framework for forecasting labor based on requirements

o   Establish reporting and business intelligence and KPIs to measure success against forecast

o   Establish process to enhance forecasting to keep up with changing labor market or new service expectations

·         Develop processes and controls for labor/workforce scheduling

o   Establish process for overall staffing decisions (how many do we need)

o   Establish process for scheduling (scheduling those people)

o   Establish process for resource allocation (how people get placed where)

o   Establish reporting to measure compliance against staffing process

·         Develop oversight process to understand labor performance

o   Develop KPIs and reporting to measure labor performance and understand why changes occur

o   Collaborate with operations on the right reporting/information needed for operators to drive labor decisions

·         Understand and optimize labor technology (Kronos and whatever else we might use in the future)

·         Candidates should have an advanced degree in business management, financial analysis or strategic management, with at least five years experience in strategic management consulting, demonstrated success in leading large-scale strategy projects with proven results and effective leadership and management skills.

·         Strong analytical skills with proven experience in structuring and analyzing ambiguous and complex business problems

·         Extensive experience in identifying and prioritizing high-impact improvement opportunities in an Operations environment

·         Strong strategic, creative and critical thinking skills; ability to see the “big picture” while also diving into the details where necessary

·         A passion for using data to drive decision making; proven ability to apply appropriate leverage to the development of systems and solutions to complex initiatives

·         Advanced spreadsheet, data-management, and presentation development skills

·         Solid interpersonal/ Communication / Leadership skills

·         Demonstrated ability to deliver results through complex cross-functional teams

·         Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills, with extensive experience of working with senior management

·         Experience of working cross-culturally and cross-functionally, and ability to adapt personal style to different environments

·         Solid project management experience including multi-team, multi-project responsibilities

·         Identify and evaluate innovative research techniques and technologies

·         Document and communicate research results through visual presentations or reports

·         Periodic travel to company locations in the U.S. and in other countries for consulting, training or data collection projects  

·         Ability to be flexible and work simultaneously on multiple projects

·         Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred
