As a member of the Pennsylvania Interactive team, you will work together to drive application and adoption of emerging technologies to create effective, citizen-centric digital government solutions.   The Director of User Experience is a thought leader and positive change agent inside and outside the organization. A strategic influencer demonstrating the value of user-centric design processes through expert knowledge and extensive experience. An essential contributor in the development of new internal and external business processes to better align with the customer’s preferred approach.  Strong customer facing skills are required as this key individual will give presentations to executive level audiences, facilitate working sessions with state agency customers and conduct user interviews with the public.  Lead by positive example guiding and supporting a diverse team of designers and front end developers. Embodies and understands that the larger picture is more than working on projects it’s creating better digital experiences for citizens and businesses interacting with government.     Responsibilities: 

  • A passion  for application design, information architecture, customer journey mapping, user testing and research
  • Represents the business as the subject matter expert
  • Builds a trusting and collaborative partnership with the customer
  • Influences design concepts and guidelines 
  • Presents ideas and concepts through visual means
  • Contributes to improving cross departmental processes 
  • Recruits, coaches and retains best-in-class talent
  • Advocates for positioning end users at the center of all products and services delivered

  • Experience working agile as well as waterfall

  • Understanding and appreciation of Content Strategy and writing for the web
