Wireless Zone - Rocky Hill, CT

Position Overview:

 

The Director of Training must be able to think strategically in developing training programs, purchasing new technology to support the organization’s training efforts, working with Verizon and our other Vendors/Partners, and building a productive relationship with our Parent Company’s Training Team.

The Director of Training has four main areas of responsibility: 1) Development of a strategic training program 2) In store training as an individual contributor, plus overseeing other company trainers 3) Supervise existing Corporate Trainer 4) Lead Corporate training activities i.e. RFD Meetings, New Franchisee Training etc.

Essential Duties:

Training Programs – Create, maintain and update programs for Wireless Zone® personnel, new and existing franchisees and their store personnel, with the primary goal of promoting sales and maximizing profits for our franchisees. Included are in-house, electronic and regional training programs. Assure that the Training Department staff is proficient in all aspects of the sales process, store operations and company policies and procedures. Oversee creation of training materials. Utilize available technologies and resources to assure that training is performed in an effective and cost-conscious manner. Schedule and conduct training sessions as appropriate.

Retail Sales – Coordinate with Marketing, Purchasing, Operations and the carriers with respect to retails promotions and special product offerings. Develop sales training tools and programs to support these promotions, and disseminate these tools throughout the franchise system in a timely manner, with the goal of driving retailsales to assist franchisees in maximizing their profits.

Business to Business (B2B) – Coordinate with Marketing, Purchasing, Operations and the Verizon with respect to developing and implementing training programs which will foster the growth of territory management by our franchisees. Develop B2B sales training tools to promote B2B and other means of maximizing territory management and disseminate these tools throughout the franchise system in a timely manner, with the goal of assisting franchisees in maximizing their overall territory profit potential.

New Store Development – Coordinate with Growth, Operations and Legal to assure appropriate training is provided for start-up of new stores and the transfer of existing stores.

Operations Manuals – Train franchisees and company personnel to clearly understand and utilize the Wireless Zone Operations Manual. Assure that all components of this manual are routinely revised to accurately reflect current system standards and best practices.

Store Training – Conduct visit stores, in coordination with the RFD, to deliver in store training to Owners, Store Managers and SalesAssociates

Vendor Relationships –Works cross functionally with Verizon to drive VZ required training completion rates. Develops relationships with manufacturer representatives to leverage their training resources to increase store performance.

Inter-Department Management – Coordinate with all senior and executive staff members as necessary to resolve training issues. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Field Management and Home Office Personnel to enable completion of assigned tasks. Be proactive in creating an open trustworthy communication channel with Store Owners, Store Sales Team Members and Verizon Personnel.

General – Complete any additional tasks as required and assigned by Supervisor.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • 2-4 years’ experience training in a wireless retail environment
  • Ability to motivate people and gain “buy-in”
  • Strong personal sales skills
  • Clear and effective written, verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience with stand-up presentations and training in a one on one and group environment
  • In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
