The Department of Social Work at Carlow University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Director of the BSW Program/Assistant Professor. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Carlow’s 20+ year CSWE-accredited BSW program requires a Director with strategic leadership experience, commitment to teaching excellence among undergraduate students, and familiarity with working on accreditation standards. Carlow University is a comprehensive Catholic University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1929 by the Sisters of Mercy, Carlow is situated in a culturally rich and diverse urban setting. Carlow is recognized for educating traditional students and adult learners for a lifetime of ethical leadership and service.

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling courses
  • Overseeing personnel in the program
  • Recruiting and selecting adjunct instructors
  • Leading CSWE reaffirmation, engaging with prospective and current students
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations in the BSW program

We seek an innovative leader with the following qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Social Work or closely related field, an MSW from a CSWE- accredited institution
  • Experience in post-MSW social work, experience in micro practice, and an established scholarship agenda
  • Ability to teach using multiple teaching approaches, including in the online environment, and a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations.
