PURPOSE

The Director Technology will lead a key development team in the design, development, and delivery of the front-end of a technology platform that will serve the LTL, Small Parcel, and FTL lines of business. The Director of Technology will provide both technical and team leadership across all areas of the technology team and build a high-performing team capable of delivering to a defined plan

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES:

  • Build strong relationships with business and technology partners.
  • Contribute to the Company’s technology roadmap.
  • Maintain best practices, including adhering to the SAFe Agile development methodology, in conjunction with other technology leaders.
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of the franchise and customer experience and develop appropriate workflow and processes that reflect strong user experience design.
  • Develop strong relationships with technology vendors and other partners.
  • Build a high-performing team capable of delivering a consumer-grade user experience and associated back-end services on time and on budget that can evolve as the platform is put in place.
  • Ensure team utilizes technical knowledge, problem solving and communication skills to interact with business partners and understand the business requirements and potential future demands for the new system.
  • Work closely with Architecture team to ensure development of services meets design specifications
  • Work with other technology leaders to determine a feasible migration plan for complete customer and franchisee migration to the new user experience that minimizes impact to those migrating.
  • Interact with Company technology leaders as well as C-level leaders.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent applicable experience
  • 5+ years of IT management.
  • Significant leadership experience in the logistics industry or adjacent industries applicable to WWEX.
  • Experience in building and leading software development teams with a minimum of 10-20 team members in business and technology transformation in a growth-oriented business.
  • Experience with greenfield development projects preferred
  • Experience working with technologies such as Java Spring framework, PostgreSQL database, Drools rules engine, etc.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools like Jenkins within AWS cloud environment

KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Understanding of the industry, specific WWEX business model, and unique characteristics of the Company.
  • Significant leadership experience in the logistics industry or adjacent industries applicable to WWEX.
  • Strong understanding of service/micro service architecture and modern technology
  • Strong understanding of modern development languages, tools, and platforms.
