To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position willprovide direction for campus access initiatives and oversee thedevelopment of a ministry to Student Development Professionals“SDP”), including the production of a regular web-based newsletterand national websitethatseekto address theirspiritual, ethical, and professional development concerns.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

PersonalBe a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture, and God’s purposes in the world.LeadershipPartner with the National Field Director supervisingcampus access issuesto support chapters and staff where there areaccessconcerns:

?Provide campus strategy and pastoral supporttocampus staff

?Coordinate campus-focused initiatives and partnerships (e.g., Veritas True Tolerance Tours)

?Coordinate with other campus ministries and those with similarinterests regarding campus access

?Represent InterVarsity to the public and media on campus access-related issues as requested?Oversee the production of pro-active resources and tools (in partnership with 2100Productions and other teams) related to campus access initiativesEstablish and implement a vision for a ministry to SDPs:?Partner with Graduate & Faculty Ministry, Undergraduate & Faculty Ministry, The Well, and the Emerging Scholars Network (Inside InterVarsity) and the Association of Christians in Student Development to advance the aims of the ministry to Student Development Professionals.

?Keep up with current trends and conversations in Student Development (including multiethnicity, Greek life, International Student services, residence halls, and career and placement services).

?Developand oversee the production of a website and regular web-based newsletterfor SDPs, as well as faculty and students working in the field, coordinating with Campus Web Ministries, Communications,and ITS, as required

?Advance InterVarsity’s engagement with and reputation inorganizations representing SDPs (e.g.,NASPA -,ACPA, NACUC, etc.)

?Coordinate the production of articles, editorials, and other pieces which can be used in SDP publications (e.g.,Inside Higher Education, The Chronicle of Higher Education, etc.)Undertake other projects as assignedAdministrationPerform the necessary administrative tasks required to fulfill the purpose of InterVarsity and to comply with InterVarsity’s policies and procedures by:

?Ensuringadherence to national policies, procedures, reporting requirements and financial guidelines

?Ensuringadherence to Campus Web Ministry protocols for the implementation and use of Web technology, branding and design standards, and the publication and copyright control of contentFund Development & Public RelationsDevelop a prayer and funding base by:?Developing a national prayer team to intercede for this endeavor and for oneself

?Seeking funding fromfoundations, churches,and individuals to cover personal ministry expenses (travel, phone, etc.),and salary and benefits,etc.

?Work with the Advancement Department in grant development

?Represent InterVarsity at student development professionals conferences including NASPA and ACPA national meetingsQUALIFICATIONS

?Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement?Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred?A maturing disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ

?Concernfor and understanding of the issues faced by student development professionals

?Demonstrated ability to raise funds for staff and programs?A clear sense of calling to InterVarsity and its mission?Commitment to integration of faith, vocation, and academic life?Ability to perform well asa self-starter and maintainer; able to handle crisis situations as they arise

?Excellent written and oral communication skills; editorial experience preferred

?Proficiency in computer technology (Microsoft Office, web content management, etc.) or a willingness to learn?Strong interpersonal skills; pastoral skills

?Skill in organizing and project management skills?Ability to contribute to open and supportive relationships with team members
