The Director of Strategic Initiatives leads and directs the Division of Biology and Medicine’s offices responsible for financial services, human resource management, research administration, facilities and space management, and animal care facility.   Working in close collaboration with the Executive Dean for Administration and as a trusted member of the senior team, the Director of Strategic Initiatives will work to implement new strategic initiatives, expand research, maintain a culture of accountability and service, and strengthens and aligns clinical partnerships.  This position manages complex projects and plays a critical support role in strategic planning, decision-making, and execution of decisions to support the Division.  Serving as an advisor and liaison, s/he represents the interests and priorities of the Executive Dean through effective communication, coordination, and integration of strategic priorities and objectives.


  • Master’s degreerequired with ten years’ work related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Experience with hospital and/or clinical environment required
  • Clinical research administrative experiencerequired
  • Advanced knowledge of the higher education environment and/or large research university to understand priorities, issue, motivations, and constraints preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid, proven project management experience
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad array of people
  • Service and improvement-oriented approach to work
  • Financial management skills,
  • Familiarity with sponsored research, physician practice plans, hospital and clinical environments
  • High degree of personal integrity, tact, and judgement in order to recognize and manage access to sensitive information about the University, division, strategy, results, people, and issues being addressed
