The Director, Solution Architecture is a technically and organizationally savvy individual and is a key organizational leader responsible for implementing global assessment, direction, and implementation of the strategic architecture and technology required to achieve business results. The Director is a strong listener and ensures collated business and technology strategies are reflected in solution architectures that serve immediate and future business needs. Supports and/or executes governance frameworks, processes, and tools to provide business capability solutions and ensure organizational understanding and alignment. The Director will ensure software initiatives are adequately staffed for appropriate architecture design, development, and/or implementation activities. The director will understand current and trending industry technology solution patterns and partner with appropriate organizational leaders to identify, evaluate, and implement applicable technologies. The Director, Solution Architecture, provides tactical and strategic direction across all Wyndham application development and ensures team alignment toward the development, maintenance, and enforcement of standards and best practices as well as to organizational goals and imperatives.

The Director, Solution Architecture is accountable for developing/coaching/mentoring staff, managing vendors, developing and nurturing stakeholder relationships, providing accurate capital and expense forecasts, and participates in, or leads, the development/execution of organizational strategies.

  • BS in Computer Science/Information Systems or Engineering required
  • MS preferred

Job experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of IT experience; at least 4 years as a Software Architecture leader
  • Considerable Experience leading Agile organizations
  • Considerable Experience leading multi-site and/or off-shore development teams
  • Considerable Experience working on large scale, enterprise wide projects
  • 4+ years of experience in performing analysis and high level design and/or leading projects

Technology Requirements:

  • Experience with one or more of the following application types / platforms:
    • Custom Business Applications
    • B2C Web and Mobile Applications
    • B2B Applications
    • ERP Applications
    • ASP, SaaS, and/or Cloud-ready Applications
    • Service Oriented Architecture
    • Microservice Architectures
    • Enterprise Salesforce (Sales, Service, Marketing Clouds)

Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • Experience leading Agile Transformations is helpful
  • Experience in Java programming or leading J2EE development teams is helpful
  • Digital development background a significant plus
