Their state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, exceed cGMP standards and allow them to grow in anticipation of their customers' needs. Position Overview

The Director of Manufacturing, Solid Dose will lead the operations of the company's 250 employee, solid dose manufacturing plant in Phoenix AZ. This facility generates nearly half of the company's revenues producing vitamin/nutraceutical tablets and capsules. The director is responsible for all operational aspects of the facility ensuring that the highest quality products are produced and delivered on-time with a minimum of yield loss. The Director will define operational standards and KPI's and drive the team to attain them while always looking for opportunities for continuous improvement.  

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee all production and plant issues for the Phoenix facility ensuring a high-quality product is produced and delivered on time.
  • Coordinate production in close partnership with sales, purchasing, receiving and logistics.
  • Provide the company's executive team with monthly and quarterly goals and performance results
  • Ensure organizational compliance to the company quality systems and cGMP programs.
  • Drive the prompt resolution of any production or quality issues
  • Develop and cross train staff by mentoring, teaching and setting performance standards that align with the plant's KPI's. Identify key areas of development to make employees more valuable contributors to the organization. Build the bench strength.
  • Review all personnel changes (hiring, termination, transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions)
  • Work with production team and engineering to recommend equipment to increase output and reduce waste. Research and perform ROI analysis to make informed decisions.
  • Direct the production organization's response to all non- conforming reports and corrective actions to determine root cause of any production issues.
  • Build and foster a continuous improvement culture – establish operational standards and KPI's and drive the team in attainment of those standards.
  • Support all local, state, and federal safety requirements ensuring the facility is in full compliance. Adhere to and drive a safe working environment.

Desired Skills & Experience

·        A four-year college degree is required

·        A minimum of 10 years total experience is required

·        A minimum of 5 years of previous management experience in a manufacturing environment is required

·        Previous experience in the pharmaceutical, vitamin or nutritional supplement industry is strongly preferred

·        Previous experience leading solid dose (tablets, capsules, powders) operations is ideal.

·        A proven track record of success delivering high quality product on time

·        Previous track record of using continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six-Sigma, Toyota Production Systems, etc.) to drive improvements in plant operations

·        Proven track record of developing promotable employees.
