Mystery Shopping Director of Sales

The Mystery Shop (MS) service line Director of Sales is responsible for securing new clients, growing the existing business, and driving Ipsos MS offering, services and experience "awareness" throughout the target industries. He or she is responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with business leaders in targeted roles at brands across all target industries. Further, the Director of Sales is an aggressive "hunter", responsible for full-cycle consultative, strategic selling.

The role requires an independent self-starter who is capable of building positive and collaborative working relationships with clients and colleagues. He or she must be an astute business observer, with a deep understanding of the business issues facing clients / prospects and the role research plays in meeting those needs. He or she must be insightful, thoughtful and dedicated with a research background that allows them to develop and apply research solutions. And the Director of Sales must be able to communicate the details of our service line offerings as well as leverage and coordinate the offerings of other, internal research service lines.

As such, the ideal candidate is one who has proven experience in leveraging their market research expertise, in a B2B sales capacity, across multiple industries. This is a salaried position but is an excellent opportunity well-suited for an individual who is motivated by a competitive commission plan (in addition to salary).

Key Responsibilities

Working within the US Mystery Shopping Business Development team, the Director of Sales role requires strong lead-generation and pipeline-to-sale management experience. In addition, he or she will:

  • Generate revenue that meets or exceeds defined revenue and profit targets
  • Build new client relationships and expand existing business with current clients
  • Manage all aspects of the sales process including prospecting, qualifying, meeting, negotiating, project closing & kickoff
  • Perform initial day-to-day management of accounts, utilizing sales management system to ensure accurate and current information, prior to Client Success organization handoff
  • Maintain knowledge of Ipsos' products and services and trends in the market research industry
  • Work with client service (project) teams to ensure client satisfaction
  • Cultivate and strengthen client relationships through developing an understanding of their business objectives and ensuring exceptional client service

Qualification and experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar Director of Sales role with a proven record of exceeding quota in a research or software sales capacity
  • Experience with managing a sales pipeline as well as a working knowledge of various Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software tools
  • 4 to 7 years of marketing and research experience (a diversified background is a plus).
  • Have earned at least a Bachelor's degree, with an MBA a plus
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace environment a passion for research, and the role it plays in addressing business issues
  • Be courageous in bringing clients strong recommendations and new research solutions
