We are searching for a seasoned and talented Director of Sales with skills and passion to join a successful, privately held organization and lead the organization?s Sales effort. The company is based in Western Pennsylvania and has been selling high quality, top performing, environmentally responsible, products globally for over 30 years. This is a newly created position. The candidate we seek is a seasoned, high energy, strategic leader, with strong business acumen. The CEO is adding this position to provide for strategic growth. We seek a sales leader that can build the requiredSales capabilities to continue to sustainably grow this business. Historically the CEO has led and coordinated the sales activities. He desires to add a talented professional to build a sales system to continue to grow. The growth strategy requires the addition of a talented, experienced sales leader with an entrepreneurial spirit. We seek a relationship and systems builder with demonstrated success.

Current Situation:

This is a confidential search. This business is privately held with a track record of success and stability. Sales and financial performance are stable with the infrastructure foundation in place to support growth. The owner has recognized the need for the addition of a talented, skilled Director of Sales. This professional Director of Sales is a key strategic addition to the team. This leader will be responsible for collaboratively developing the sales strategy, building effective customer relationships and developing customer solutions needed for long term revenue growth. The organization?s products are sold based on ?Value? with recognized superior product performance. Aggressive competition is impacting the rate of growth.  This organization takes a long term view of the market and works to build lasting customer relationships. 

This position will report directly to the President and must work effectively with every member of the team.  


Candidate Profile: 

The successful candidate will have completed a BS / BA degree program, preferably in business. He / she will be an accomplished sales leader with relevant Sales and Business Development experience. They must have well developed leadership competencies required for success in this position. Our candidate will have demonstrated success selling products based on ?Value?.  We seek an exceptional sales person with the ability to build effective, trusting relationships with employees and customers. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to grow sales and build effective customer relationships in an organization with a broad national scope with some experience with international salespreferred.   


The ideal candidate for this position will have had at least 7years of Sales and Business Development experience. Our candidate will have experience using data to successfully develop and implement strategy that includes product value selling and experience building exceptional lasting relationships.  The successful candidate will have had experience building, systematizing and leading a results-driven sales team.

The successful candidate will be business savvy having strong financial acumen ? with the ability to see cause and effect between tactics and financial outcomes. As this role grows they will have skills identifying and developing talent and effective establishing metrics and accountabilities.

The successful candidate will have a will have a ?systems /process driven? results-oriented leadership style with a high commitment to driving organization values. They must have the ability to build a unified, high performing team by engaging employees at all levels of the organization. They will be described as a passionate and dynamic leader with the energy and communication skills to work effectively across the organization.


They must grow long term relationships with key strategic clients and sell the value at each level of the client organization. They will be an effective team builder and decision maker with a high sense of purpose. They will have a demonstrated a history of employing advanced analytical skills and data driven decision making. They will have strong critical thinking skills. 

This position has a wide variety of interactions both inside the organization and externally with customers, and requires effective strong interpersonal relationship skills.


 A high level of personal skills is required to make formal, persuasive presentations to groups and to deal effectively with people from all segments of the customer organization. They will have the ability to simplify complex issues.

This candidate will have highest standard of unquestioned professional conduct and act continuously to model integrity and credibility as they represent the company in the market. 


Experience planning, attending and maximizing trade show participation is preferred. Candidates must be able to travelinternationally. Our preferred candidate will be well-traveled with broad experiences.



Undergraduatedegree with an advanced business degreepreferred.

Skills /Abilities

Strong computer literacy with proficient use of MS Office Suite. Must have effective use of CRM software including data analysis. This positon requires both domestic and international travel.    


This position is based in an attractive community with the flexibility to live within about an hour of the office which would include suburban Pittsburgh communities.


 he compensation plan is very attractive and will reward performance. The client will provide relocationsupport if necessary.
