Director of Safety and Compliance

The Director of Safety and Compliance is responsible for maintaining and developing all safety programs and objectives to insure a safe work environment for employees.  Position is responsible for all compliance with state, federal and local safety regulations and supports compliance with training to all employees of Pebble Beach Company. DSC will provide leadership in all areas of resort operations, regarding safety policy and procedures.  Position duties include: 

  • Maintains PBC Injury & Illness Prevention Program  
  • Coordinate special event safety training with Managers, organizers, vendor/contractors
  • Work with managers to improve safety awareness
  • Correct unsafe behavior and conditions as needed
  • Provide Safety training and relevant information as needed by department
  • Coordinate responsible alcohol service training
  • Coordinate food safety training
  • Attend safety meetings as required
  • Facilitate New Employee Orientation safety awareness
  • Facilitate safety programs for Managers and Employees
  • Coordinate and maintain Employee Safety Committees
  • Coordinate Emergency procedures and Fire Extinguisher training
  • Coordinate state and county pesticide training compliance
  • Hold department Managers accountable for their safety compliance
  • Oversee CAL/OSHA regulatory compliance
  • Oversee DMV/DOT programs in compliance with CHP criteria

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degreepreferred
  • 5+ years of proven safety management experience
  • Must have a passion for safety and working with others
  • Must love to teach and have excellent training and presentation skills
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer preferred
  • Understanding of hotel, golf, and resort operations
  • Knowledge with DOT/DMV/CHP Regulations regarding passenger transportation
  • Active knowledge of OSHA & Cal-OSHA regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of Workers Compensation administration
  • Ability to work flexible schedule based on needs of business
  • Strong communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, communication and computer skills 

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time and move frequently from area to area. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Repetitive hand use and firm grasping is required.
