This role oversees all aspects of clinical risk management functions at the Hospital.  With a staff of two RNs, the Director is responsible for preparing the committee agenda monthly for physician review and presentation of matters in litigation and patient complications.  The Director also manages the Hospital’s electronic occurrence reporting system (RL).  All staff, including medical staff at HSS, are encouraged to report any concerns with respect to patient care to the Office of Risk Management.  As such, strong interpersonal skills are required as the position relies on building relationships of trust across the organization including with senior leadership of the organization.  The Director is responsible for assuring all reported concerns are responded to in an appropriate and timely manner.  The Director also assists the AVP and VP on special projects requiring trending of risk data in preparation for presentations to the Board as well as to other Hospital committees.  The Director is responsible for summarizing all new litigation matters and transferring pertinent information to outside counsel.  Participation in several Hospital committees is required.

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree
  • NYS RN or PA or equivalent clinical licensure
  • 5+ years experience in a healthcare clinical setting.  Risk Management experiencepreferred.
  • CPHRM certification preferred
