The Director of Revenue Cycle will be responsible for leading the day to day revenue cycle operations for The Methodist Hospital Physician Organization Central Business Office that includes approximately 100 FTEs including 2 managers and 6 account managers reporting directly to the Physician Organization Revenue Cycle VP. The incumbent will perform current state analyses and project future state improvements, estimating increased savings in revenue, productivity and efficiency by improvements in processes. The Director develops and manages policies & procedures to optimize all facets of TMHPO revenue cycle operations, while ensuring patient and physician satisfaction and staff compliance with all applicable policies and procedures. Acts as the primary liaison between departments for all strategic and operational matters involving IT support to Revenue Cycle and all physician practices.       


PEOPLE – 25%

  1. Provides strategic leadership to support the direction and objectives of TMH Physician Organization operations to ensure maximization of revenues and adherence to compliance policies and procedures. (EF)
  2. Lead the operational team in attaining ongoing department metric, production, financial goals through the effective management of resources.
  3. Direct, coordinate and evaluate performance of all operational functional areas: initiate all corrective actions to improve performance deliverables and/or resolve issues as they arise. Instill accountability and ownership at the appropriate level.
  4. Develop expertise regarding clinic departments and their specific needs and requirements.
  5. Coordinates necessary communication with key stakeholders including Department Administrators, physicians, operations, IT, SBO team, etc.
  6. Provides the leadership necessary to achieve a satisfied and competent employee work environment through establishing a climate for personal growth and development of staff. (EF)
  7. Hire, coach, develop, discipline and terminate management and staff as necessary. Develops subordinates to perform these same functions. (EF)


  1. Provides strategic leadership for all TMHPO revenue cycle processes and is responsible    for billing and collection processes and performance.
  2. Ensures customer needs are in the forefront and are identified, monitored, and practices modified to maximize customer satisfaction and optimal reimbursement. 
  3. Interactswith clinical departments to ensure goals are achieved and/or issues are being timely and appropriately addressed ultimately resulting in department satisfaction and optimal resolution of AR.
  4. Develops a solid and communicative relationship with the Director of the SBO to coordinate efforts to resolve patient, practice or provider issues.
  5. Demonstrates the components of the ICARE Values statement and complies with Business Practices standards for performance.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned by TMHPO Vice President, Revenue Cycle Operations. 


  1. Directs efforts related to federally mandated changes and ensures system notification processes and compliance.
  2. Delegates and oversees work efforts as appropriate to ensure the highest quality and best possible delivery of services. (EF)
  3. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects safety hazards.

  2. Directs financial analysis to understand clinic department AR and plan staff focus and/or corrective action planswith the management team.
  3. Stay abreast of revenue cyle and financial performance of PO CBO andSBO for the PO practice plan. Understand the issues and coordinate action plans, as appropriate.

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration, health administration or related field is required.



Seven years of healthcareexperiencerequired. 

Five years of physician practice revenue cycle management experienced preferred.



EPIC certification preferred 



  • Must be a strategic thinker and insightful decision maker, with the ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to direct changes to existing routines or practices to meet changing organizational needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional and technical billing, ICD-9 and CPT4 coding, and CMS compliance experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of management principles, processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaborativelywith department leadership.
  • Skilled in coaching, counseling and developing others to achieve operational objectives.
  • Skilled in team building, team participation, and achieving organizational success.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are required of this position for educating and interacting with all levels of health care professionals within the Physician Organization and the Hospital.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft computer applications, including mainframe systems and other job-related networks and software within the Hospital System.
  • Ability to define and see the global impact of front end and back end operations on the CBO/revenue cycle department and produce solutions that meet the needs for front end operations and CBO operations
  • Independent action and judgment is required subject of general business-wide policies.
