Job Description:

The Director of Residential Operations is a key leadership and management role responsible for leading housing operations within the Office of Residential Life. This includes managing housing-related processes: residence hall opening/closing, occupancy management, off-campus permissions, housing lottery process and room selection, room assignments, billing, as well as working with external partners to develop renovation, short- and long-range renewal and replacement schedules, capital plans and construction. Additional key responsibilities include supervising professional staff, leading housing-related technology initiative. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Residential Education to foster a safe and inclusive living environment that promotes student learning and holistic development. This individual will participate in departmental policy, planning, and budgeting discussions related to residential operations. The Director will also conduct hearings in the non-academic student conduct process and participates in a campus-wide, crisis on-call system.

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, education, or related field required.
  • Five to seven years’ experience managing residential facilities and operations, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Five to seven years’ experience supervising professional staff, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Highly effective problem-solving skills and accountability to assume ownership of a problem and resolve it in a collaborative manner.
  • Effective communication skills. Ability to write and make oral presentations to groups. Strong computing skills. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and use new communication approaches and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff and student body.
