Summary:   Reporting to the Head of the Central Risk & Controls Office (CRCO), the Director of Reporting is responsible for ensuring accurate and comprehensive reporting for issue management and the control environment across MUFG Americas. The reporting scope includes issues from all business units and legal entities from multiple sources including management’s self-identified, internal audit, regulators, internal controls over financial reporting and regulatory reporting (ICFR/ICRR), risk and compliance, and is aggregated, analyzed and reported to executive leadership, the Board and Home Office in Tokyo. Under the leadership of the Director of Reporting, the Issue Management Reporting team will create transparency for the Business Unit and other senior executive leaders, the Board and other stakeholders over the control environment through reporting on issue activity, remediation status, dependencies, trends and root causes.  As the reporting is newly developed and evolving, this new leader has the opportunity to make an impact through development and implementation of enhanced reporting design, content, analysis and messaging.     Major Responsibilities: 

  • Act as the central point of contact for Issue Management Reporting 
  • Responsible for the design and production of issues management reporting including analysis and development of key messages all reporting requirements, and discussion with or presentations to senior management and executive leadership across the firm, as required. 
  • Develops, analyzes and distributes dashboards and reports over issues activity including trends, cross-line of business or legal entity dependencies, root causes and relationships to inflight or planned initiatives and conclusions on control effectiveness and the overall control environment.  
  • Responsible for enhancement and management of the production process for routine and ad-hoc reports to meet designated governance and management routines.
    • Develop and maintain a reporting calendar including all required reviews
    • Coordinate, develop and update written Standard Operating Procedures for reporting processes
    • Establish objective performance management metrics/standards to ensure a high level of performance accountability
    • Develop and maintain a central repository of reports and reporting standard operating procedures. 
  • Ensure data and information used for issue management reporting is sourced from the appropriate system(s) of record and adequate preventative and detective controls are in place to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
  • Facilitate ongoing continuous improvement of data quality and accuracy through: 
  • Partnering with divisional business partners, source system liaisons, technology partners, to identify and resolve system and data sourcing issues and/or implement enhancements 
  • Engagement with MUFG entities and Business Units to ensure consistency of reports, formatting and messaging of reporting content as well as ideas for continued improvement. 
  • Accountable for all management responsibilities of team, including:
    • Providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching
    • Reporting expertise to help the team perform and deliver their accountabilities
    • All Human Resource administrative responsibilities required to manage the team per MUFG guidelines


  • Exemplary reporting expertise – ability to analyze and synthesize data into insightful and concise messages for executive reporting and to design clear and effective reporting formats
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) at all staff levels
  • Strong proficiency in the use of basic reporting environments, systems, and applications including:
    • Excel
    • Access Data Base
    • Power Point
    • SharePoint (preferred not required)
    • Business Objects, Crystal, SQL Server, etc. (preferred, not required)
  • 5+ years’ experience in managing the generation and delivery of executive management reporting
  • 5+ years financial industry experience
  • 10+ years in resource management/leadership experience
  • Bachelors’ Degree
