Roles & Responsibilities:
The Director of Pharmacy (Operations), or DOP, is responsible for the proper safeguarding of controlled substances and for ensuring that the processes and systems are in place to detect and prevent diversion. The Director (or designee) is responsible for the purchase, storage, dispensing, administration and accountability of controlled substances within the organization. The DOP will ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing controlled substances. The Pharmacy will maintain a perpetual inventory system for controlled substances. The DOP (or designee) is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completion of the perpetual inventory and all required controlled substance records.
