Oyster is a platform that simplifies the process of hiring across international borders - creating a better experience for both employers and candidates globally. They provide a “global work permit” for candidates around the world. Their products resolve the significant challenges associated with high monthly recurring costs, on-going administrative activities and often complex international human resources law involved in hiring internationally located employees. The platform services both employers - through enabling seamless international hiring, benefits administration and payroll - and employees - providing simple products to get hired and get paid as an employee. Revenues are generated through the use of the platform services and scale evenly and effortlessly to demand. Oyster also delivers a significant social impact, transforming access to the international job market for an increasingly skilled global workforce from their home location. This helps address global challenges in income distribution, job security, employee diversity, local country skills loss and unnecessary business travel. In delivering an experience that is seamless and efficient Oyster unlocks a new reality in the future of work and life for the global economy.
Founded by Tony Jamous in late 2019, the former CEO & Founder of Nexmo, Oyster is in a significant phase of growth. Nexmo was a leading Communication API Platform with c.450 employees and over $300m in revenue that was acquired by Vonage (VG:NYSE) in mid-2016 delivering over 100x return for the initial investors. Oyster announced their initial seed funding round of $4.2m in April 2020 from leading global venture funds and business angels and will imminently announce a domain leading Series A investment in early 2021. A series of high profile founding management team members with specific functional expertise have been added post the first financing round. The organisation seeks to operate in line with its proposition - at a global scale, as virtual as possible and in a contemporary way where values, outcomes and impact combine to drive a new experience for both Oyster employees and users of the product. It is clear that the organisation built alongside the Founders and the leadership team will be critical to the delivery of this vision and the rapid transformation of the target market in a period where remote working becomes increasingly common
