Job Summary:

The Director of Payroll oversees the payroll processing, mentoring and leading the payroll department. This position works closely with all levels of management and must have the ability to work at the macro and micro levels. The Director of Payroll must be dedicated and committed to accuracy in all transactions and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Coordinate and manage the entire payroll function

· Mentor, manage and supervise the centralized payroll team

· Assist with administering payrolls, month-end consolidation and processing support as required

· Check and auditpayrolls to ensure wage and hour compliance and internal reports are accurate

· Responsible for payroll software implementations and upgrades

· Reviews calculation and payment of final checks

· Payment and reconciliation of bonus payments

· Liaising with management and employees regarding pay inquiries

· Work closely with the Accounting department to balance the monthly GL

· Develop and updatepayroll reference manual for each company

· Responsible for annual reporting on EEO, Vets and the workers' compensationaudit

· Project leader for the 401(k) annual audit and 5500 processing

· Work closely with labour relations and assist with gathering information for CBA negotiations, information requests and grievances

· Preparation of ad hoc reports as required

· Liaise with HR regarding new hires, terminations, remuneration and conditions of service

· Continually review payroll practices for compliance and improve efficiency

· Assist HR with FLSA review and updating/writing wage and hour policies

· All other duties and projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or related discipline

· Payroll management experiencerequired; 8+ years preferred with multi-state experience

· Comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems

· Background in Accounting is preferred

· Prior software implementation experience; UltiPro software experience strongly preferred

· Experience in managing a payroll team, ideally in a growing, changing, fast-paced environment

· Knowledge and understanding of all payrollreporting, including providing the payrollreports necessary for Accounting's general ledger and month-end balancing

· Attention to detail and accuracy is key

· Ability to create, review and supply policies and procedures

· Strong knowledge of wage and hour and ability to interpret wage and hour legislation and communicate to upper management

· Business process improvement experience

· Stellar problem analysis and problem-solving skills

· Strong analytical and numeracy skills

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Quick decision-making skills stress tolerance and teamwork abilities

· Project Management

· Experience processing high volume payroll of 2000+ employees strongly preferred

· Union payrollexperience highly preferred
