Overall Objectives:                       

To lead, expand and increase automation and efficiencies of the oligonucleotide manufacturing and Sanger Sequencing Operations for the Eurofins Genomic business in the US with full P&L responsibility.


  • Oversees, directs, coordinates and prioritizes the daily activities of the oligonucleotide production and Sanger Sequencing laboratory and the assigned staff.

  • Analyse current equipment and processes, provide recommendations and implement improvements to automation.

  • Support the development, implementation and optimal use of equipment and systems and ensure its efficient usage at all levels of manufacturing to improve productivity and profitability.

  • Design and lead automation projects to streamline and improve the manufacturing process and make good use of IT to achieve high efficiency.

  • Continuously follow new developments in automation and robotics of biotech processes

  • Work closely with R&D, Maintenance and IT departments for implementing new equipment, new manufacturing processes and new products

  • Participate in design and implementation of new product lines into the production process.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of analytical instrumentation and testing principles.

  • Implement process controls, validations and metrics for the production equipment to monitor the stability of the manufacturing process

  • Review analytical test results and process controls to ensure stability of process and product quality under proper documentation. Ensure mathematical and statistical computation methods and techniques to prepare statistical data on regularly basis.

  • Assumes budgetary and profitability responsibility of the oligonucleotide manufacturing laboratory.

  • Hire, motivate, develop and retain excellent staff and manager under duty and make sure the essential training schedule is followed

  • Define and agree goals and milestones with the managers and staff and ensure goals are defined and communicated to their respective teams. Set up customer centric Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress. Follow up as appropriate and become hands on if required to ensure achievement of goals.

  • Analyse problems, identify solutions, and implement recommendations as well as manage the corrective actions.

  • Support Purchasing department to assist in cost containment.

  • Maintain the stability and reputation of Eurofins MWG Operon by complying with legal requirements and safety and security measures.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and trade shows, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional organizations.




Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Masters preferred), PhD in Chemistry


A minimum of seven to nine years’ experience in an engineering related position is required. Experience in chemical and molecular biological techniques as well as familiarity with LEAN and Six Sigma manufacturing principles preferred. MBA would be a plus
