Summary

The Director of Operations role is an integral role for the Energy Practice. This position will lead the business operations and engineering team for Partner’s energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainability, ESG, and EV charging division. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the efficiency, technical execution,

and profitability of diverse product lines, multiple scopes of work, and a team of approximately 60 employees located across the country. We are open to this position being in SoCal, New Jersey or Atlanta.

The Energy Practice is a 13-year-old business which is a high-growth environment, as we anticipate doubling within a few years. As a technical engineering firm, in order to meet the growing needs of the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) industry, we provide technical solutions to meet CRE challenges like carbon emissions,

building resiliency, and sustainability.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with the President and Engineering Directors to drive the department’s operations and
  • processes with the utmost efficiency and technical accuracy and scale the overall business
  • Work with Practice Leads and managers to lead and manage the various engineering practices within
  • the Energy division (renewables, EV charging, commercial/industrial, multifamily)
  • Lead and/or project manage key initiatives and strategic projects across the department including
  • those focused on mentorship, employee retention, growth and hiring.
  • Act as Operations lead for the Energy Practice and manage P&L
  • Work with other Operation leads throughout Partner to maximize efficiencies, resource sharing and
  • cross training opportunities
  • Work with Practice leads to develop engineering templates for energy audits, decarbonization studies,
  • engineering designs, and other scopes of work
  • Facilitate recurring operational and project reviews on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Facilitate strategic leadership meetings between the department and Partner’s executive team (CFO,
  • COO, CEO)
  • Own the Engineering operations, including weekly resource planning, work projections, and overall
  • project execution
  • Partner closely with finance and HR to identify and address areas operational needs and improvement
  • in operations and processes
  • Work with HR to hire talent and work with the Resource Management team to identify subcontractors
  • for the business
  • Special projects as needed


Qualifications

  • BS in mechanical, civil, electrical, or environmental engineering
  • MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in program management, operations, strategy, or finance
  • 5+ years of experience working as an engineer for an energy efficiency, sustainability, or renewable
  • energy company
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with
  • internal and external partners
  • Ability to demonstrate humility and patience with ability to thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous
  • environment
  • Strategic, logical, process-oriented thinker with the ability to develop, articulate, and execute long-
  • term plans
  • Strong program / project management capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build consensus among a diverse and technically-advanced
  • engineering team
  • Highly-proactive, organized, self-starter capable of effectively managing several projects with strategic
  • prioritization


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift.


Compensation

Positions pays $140,000 -$170,000.

Depending on education, licensing, location, and professional experience.
