Experience and Education

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or a relevant subject area. Five years of experience in healthcare administration.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Eight years of experience in academic healthcare administration with at least four years in a leadership role. Experience in RFID/RTLS experience and planning. Master’s degree in business, healthcare or a relevant subject area.

Job Duties

Operational Improvement

  • Perform analysis of various aspects of operations, monitor trends, and reports accordingly to the AVP Non Clinical Support Service.

  • In collaboration with the leadership team, develop and implement efforts to improve operational performance on a project basis to assist the hospitals and clinics in meeting its annual and strategic goals.

  • Provide project management leadership for capital purchases and projects to be developed, planned, and implemented within the UT Southwestern Medical System University Hospitals.

  • Design, plan, implement and oversee Operations Command Center in efforts to improve patient throughput in a safe and effective manner.

  • Collect and utilize operational and bench marking data to assist the leadership team of the hospital in setting targets for improvements in patient services, productivity, and cost management. Prepare appropriate reports and conduct surveys in order to evaluate hospital and clinic operational and fiscal performance, and distribute as appropriate.

  • Provide support to the leadership team members for various projects as assigned within budget and on schedule.

  • Review Support Service performance to ensure timeliness, accuracy, compliance and standards fulfillment as defined in Service Level Agreements

  • Complete monthly trending analysis of performance

  • Analyze support data and provide reporting insights to assist in management decisions which align operational performance with strategic goals

Capital Budget Control

  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to monitor capital expenditures against budget, performing regular reconciliation.

  • Participate in the development of a 5-year capital plan for the University Hospitals.

Operational Budget Control

  • Prepare and manage annual operational budget in assigned areas.

  • Monitor and report operational financial performance

  • Identify and implement process improvements that lead to cost savings and improve non-clinical support services to staff and patients

    Strategic Planning

  • Provide staff support to the AVP Non Clinical Support Service strategic planning activities.

  • Participate as representative of the office of the AVP Non Clinical Support Service, as appropriate, on program planning teams.

  • Oversee management of Support Services personnel, providing recommendations for hiring, promotion, salary adjustment and personnel action when appropriate

    Business/ Program Planning

  • Prepare business plans for program and business opportunities with the direction of the AVP Non Clinical Support Services and other members of the leadership team.

  • Participate in business and program planning, providing support with the planning process and financial, and marketing strategies in collaboration with appropriate individuals within the Health System.

  • Establish a monitoring process for tracking performance for the purpose of identifying areas of improvement and developing initiatives to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Assure timely communications to stakeholders about the status of projects being planned or implemented.


Service Provider

  • Establish a strong cooperative relationship with the University Hospital administrative management and executive leadership team by providing the information, tools, and services necessary to carry out their management responsibilities and to ensure that their processes are compatible with and support the needs of the Institution.

  • Provide a high standard of customer service to the administration, physicians, and representatives of the external organizations.

  • Work with the AVP Non Clinical Support Services and other members of the team to improve patient satisfaction throughout the University Hospitals.

  • Assure Support Services rounding is conducted and ensure follow-up occurs on observed issues.

    Communication

  • Develop and present findings associated with operational reviews to team members as requested.

  • Collaborate with all members of the leadership team required, providing support for UT Southwestern leadership on projects as assigned.

  • Work with the AVP Non Clinical Support Services to assure external and internal communications are appropriate, complete, clear and professional..

    Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
