Atlantic General Hospital is searching for a Director of Medical Records. As member of the Leadership Team of Atlantic General, reporting to the Vice President, Information Services / CIO, this position will supervise all aspects of the Medical Records department operations for the hospital and our multi-specialty group practice. Operations include medical record analysis, deficiency monitoring, Joint Commission compliance, ICD10 and CPT coding, Master Patient Index and Physician Master Index maintenance and scanning and indexing of paper records into our EHR, Responsibilities include serving as the Atlantic General Security officer and ensuring that we maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, implementing and optimizing a new Medical Record Management system, and participation in all clinical EMR implementation and optimization projects to ensure data integrity requirements and medical record retention requirements are met.


The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, with a Masters Degree strongly preferred and must hold a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification. A minimum of 5 years of Medical Records management experience is required. Key skills and qualifications include knowledge of the healthcare business, its changing landscape, and its regulatory influences. The Director must also have demonstrated Leadership skills, including change management, relationship building at all levels of the organization, effective communication and project management.
