COMPANY: My client is a fast-growing (9%/year), global, mid-sized designer, manufacturer and marketer of machinery and consumables with EBITDA margins in the low to mid 30 % range. The client is backed by a well-funded, highly-respected, private equity sponsor. Opportunities for organic and inorganic growth dictate the need to recruit a Director of Marketing, North America, to capitalize on these opportunities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Global VP of Marketing and Product Development (who in turn reports to CEO). Supervises: 3 Product Managers who own new product launch and lifecycle of the products, Administrator, Marcom Specialist, Senior Marketing Analyst, Lead Generation Specialist (and 7 total).

BASIC FUNCTION: Plans and directs marketing of organization's products by performing the following specific duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Other duties may be assigned.


Product Management and Development

· Establishes strategic marketing plans to drive sales and profit growth related to company products and services

· Works cross-functionally to lead and support the new product development process, ensuring market needs are met on time and on budget

· Conducts market analysis to support current and new product concepts and provides customer feedback for future product development

· Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share

Market Research and Analysis

· Researches, analyzes, and monitors industry landscape to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize impacts of competitive activity

· Leads competitive intelligence collection efforts, and monitors competitive products and marketing activities

· Manages lead development process, and associated lead distribution and tracking

· Oversees development and maintenance of customer database (CRM)

· Prepares marketing activity reports, makes recommendations, and presents them to executive management

· Monitors customer satisfaction and provides recommendations to improve company products and offerings

· Makes recommendations to build M&A pipeline, based on market analysis

Promotional Events and Materials

· Oversees development and production of company and product promotional and collateral materials

· Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online (to include company website), electronic media, direct mail, and trade show events

· Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events

Managerial Responsibilities

· Develops and manages marketing operating budget

· Oversees a team of 7-8 employees, including product managers and marketing communications specialists

· Coordinates with European and Asian counterparts on a regular basis to ensure consistent global implementation of marketing programs and strategies


· Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent (MBA strongly preferred), and/or four to ten years related experience/training

· Overall work experience 5-10 years

· Prior product management and/or P&L management experience strongly preferred

· Demonstrated success in driving top and bottom line growth of a business

· Track record of launching new product(s) to expand/grow a business

· Experience in industrial/B2B markets and selling via distribution a plus

· Experience in developing and executing an online/digital marketing strategy

· Data driven, with a strong analytical background

· Must be proficient in Windows-based programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Access and Crystal Report writing a plus

Ability to create regional (North America) Marketing vision

Ability to engage with C-Suite including CEO

Ability to create Marcom strategy

Ability to partner with manufacturing and engineering

Ability to create and manage a stage gate project plan

Ability to develop and mentor a staff

COMPENSATION: The successful candidate will receive an attractive base salary, participate in a bonus plan, and possibly future equity incentives.


$120K - $204K
$100K - $170K base, Possibly Equity bonus
