The Director assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the delivery of quality patient care by the prevention of hospital acquired infections, through staff and patient education, oversight of hospital practices as related to infection prevention and ongoing surveillance. Provides leadership and support to the unit using leadership skills to ensure best outcomes and high quality compassionate patient care. The director works with medical staff and other health care professionals collaboratively and supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Position Requirements:

  1. Required Licensure/Certification/Registration:

1. Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of South Carolina OR registered as a Medical Technologist

2. Certification in Infection Control

  1. Education:
    1. Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing; OR Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology;
    2. Prefer master’s degree in applicable field

c. Experience:

  1. MUST have a minimum of 2 years acute care experience in Infection Prevention and Control (inclusive of surveillance);
  2. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in acute care nursing or clinical laboratory (microbiology);
  3. Supervisory/management experience required, Director level preferred.
