The Director of Graduate Admissions is a goal-driven and experienced recruitment and marketing professional, responsible for providing direction and leadership to the Office of Graduate Admissions for both daily operations as well as longer-term initiatives. The Director will manage graduate admissions staff, collaboratively develop and execute marketing and recruitment plans for all graduate campus-based programs in order to successfully meet new student enrollment goals, and represent the office to both internal and external stakeholders.


• Exercises full supervisory authority over professional and administrative staff within the Office of Graduate Admissions
• Creatively leads, motivates and mentors an effective and accomplished staff
o Confers regularly with staff to plan and
coordinate activities, review
performance and resolve problems
o Plans staffing needs and reviews unit
performance and individual
performances of direct reports
o Provides opportunities and supports
professional development among staff
• Develop, review, update, interpret, communicate and implement admissions policies consistent with the university’s current profile, best practice standards for the profession, and other governing bodies
• Serve as a liaison with accrediting officials, professional organizations and others outside the University on matters related to graduate admissions
• Work in close collaboration with administrators, faculty, alumni, enrollment management and other UNE personnel to plan, coordinate, and evaluate programs, systems activities, exchange information, investigate and resolve problems
• Conduct a variety of key research, planning and evaluation tasks, involved in the development and assessment of strategic recruitment and admission activities for the various graduate programs
• Collaborates with various outside organizations and agencies to comply with key University academic policies and to carry out the varied liaison and coordinating functions
• Develop and administer the graduate admissions budget
• Coordinates the effective implementation of constituent relations management for the Graduate Admissions Office through staff professional development and assessment of stakeholder’s expectations and experiences
• Develops and implements an annual recruitment plan for graduate admission for each program, including specific activities and general graduate program activities.
• Serves on various committees
• Completes University new employee orientation and sexual harassment training within 30 days of the date of hire
• Understands and complies with the University of New England Safety Manual
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Full supervision of Office of Graduate Admissions Leadership team (Assistant Directors and Senior Coordinators)


Bachelor’s degree (Master’s, preferred) in a related field, plus 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in admissions or higher education management or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
• Broad and in-depth knowledge of higher education admissions strategies, methods and systems
• Good general knowledge of financial aid administration and registrar functions
• Sound understanding of the goals and objectives of a small, private university, medical schools and University organizational and governance structures
• Proven planning, administrative, organizational personnel and budget management skills
• Strong writing, research and analytical skills
• Ability to effectively represent the University and communicate with a wide range of individuals and organizations inside and outside the University, including public speaking and presentation skills to carry out the varied liaison and coordinating functions
• Effective customer service skills
• Proven database management and analytical skills
• Possess leadership qualities in order to create, motivate and direct a high-performance team
