The Director of Global Retirement Benefits will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Director of Global Retirement Benefits at Latham, you will be responsible for the overall financial well-being and operation of the U.S. defined contribution and defined benefits programs, non-qualified retirement plans, and country-specific pension plans in Europe and Asia for employees in the regions. The Director of Global Retirement Benefits must demonstrate dynamic leadership skills, strategic thinking, analytical capabilities, creativity, teamwork, a collaborative nature, and exceptional interpersonal skills while accomplishing these and other critical functions:


  • Developing strategic direction, related to and design of, the various retirement plans
  • Seeking new opportunities and ensuring current plans are market-competitive in each country in which the firm operates
  • Developing, recommending, and implementing approved, new, or modified programs and policies
  • Serving as a Retirement Benefits and Investment Committee member, which includes responsibility for scheduling meetings, preparing the agenda and minutes, coordinating with advisers, and following through on decisions of the Committee
  • Providing guidance and assistance to all office locations on various savings and retirement benefit programs
  • Developing and implementing training programs on plans available to employees and partners in each office location
  • Traveling frequently to various offices and vendors within the U.S., Europe, and Asia
  • Interacting on a daily basis with employees and partners about their retirement plans
  • Providing high-touch communication, interaction, and coordination with the partners, commencing with onboarding new partners to the withdrawal or retirement of partners
  • Overseeing the processes of carrying out the retirement plans; driving process enhancements and automation to improve efficiencies
  • Responsible for the governance and legal compliance of the plans, including necessary audits, filings, and adherence to plan documents
  • Developing and managing controls and conducting audits to ensure data accuracy, proper documentation, and reporting
  • Developing the Global Retirement Benefits Department team by providing a collaborative environment, training, and support
  • Collaborating with other departments and the local offices in a consensus-based environment
  • Serving as project manager for various benefit initiatives
  • Managing vendor selection and vendor relationships
  • Budgeting and managing the department costs and expenses


As a Director of Global Retirement Benefits, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Director of Global Retirement Benefits must have extensive understanding of both financial and investment aspects relating to retirement plans, as well as demonstrated track record of success implementing retirement programs aligned with company goals. The successful applicant will possess deep understanding of regulatory and legislative rules, be highly detail oriented, have the ability to conceptualize ideas from a macro and micro perspective, and be a strategic thinker with exceptional analytical capabilities to spot issues and solve problems. The Director of Global Retirement Benefits will achieve goals by collaborating with various teams, be able to work in a consensus building environment, and maintain highly confidential information. The ideal candidate will have the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously and have a proven track record of superior results. The Director will have proven proactive, collaborative, and inclusive leadership skills, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex ideas to various personnel, and excellent computer skills and exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel. The Director of Global Retirement Benefits must be a team builder, open minded, flexible, and willing to roll-up his/her sleeves to achieve objectives.


A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics or equivalent is desired. A Master's degree or equivalent in related field is strongly preferred.


A minimum of five (5) years of management experience at a Director or equivalent level is required. Experience with non-qualified retirement programs in a partnership or private company is a plus. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience with 401(k) plan and defined benefit plan strategy, data, and processes is also a plus. Understanding of European and Asian pension programs is a plus.
