The Director of Global Manufacturing and Supplier Quality is a strategic leadership position in the Global Operations organization that ensures all regulatory, compliance, customer and supplier requirements are achieved. This position is accountable for Quality Control/Assurance strategy development and execution related to Global Manufacturing, Global Finished Product Sourcing and Global Materials sourcing. Individuals should possess deep expertise in developing strategies and executing tactical plans that reduce cost of quality, drive revenue, and create long term value for the business.
• Facilitates implementation of robust manufacturing quality assurance initiatives and the generation of documentation to support programs such as GMP, ISO, TQM, etc. • Efficiently manages, develops and utilizes resources within the Quality and Manufacturing organizations to supportstrategic initiatives including Right First Time, On-Time Delivery, Cost Reduction and Personnel Development. • Drives new ideas and innovation in Quality systems to promote process improvements through the analysis and communication of quality metrics to key internal and external stakeholders. • Provides leadership and policy direction for consistent document management across Global Manufacturing and Supplier organizations. • Partners with Global Sourcing to establish an end to end Quality Management System that focuses on identification, qualification, management, and maintenance of the global supply base. This includes working with global and local sourcing and procurement teams to effectively monitor vendor performance and establish criteria and rating system for critical vendors. • Owns the process of continuous quality improvement through managing corrective action, preventative action and global external auditing. • Establishes and deploys appropriate Global Manufacturing and Supplier Quality KPI’s, developing new metrics as needed to effectively manage and advise the business. • Responsible for implementing and maintaining a standardized, efficient and effective Quality Management System at all manufacturing sites. • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional, multi-site continuous improvement projects. • Develops and executes annual audit plans as required by third party Customers. Negotiates and defends, where applicable, current plant Standard Operating Procedures and compliance practices with internal and external compliance teams or auditors. Provides corrective action and oversees modification of documentation to ensure full compliance. • Represents Dorel Juvenile to customers in matters of process quality and Global QMS. • Updates Quality Systems accordingly to maintain compliance with corporate policies and standards and continuously monitors the regulatory environment facilitating changes to systems, products and processes as required • Regularly presents quality trend reports to management and oversees the execution of corrective and preventative actions based on analysis of data. • Negotiates quality assurance agreements with suppliers and third parties to ensure alignment with compliance expectations and current regulatory standards. • Follows through on Quality System records such as deviations, change management and corrective and preventative Actions. Demonstrates prudent judgment and risk management when deciding which records require escalation. • Performs and models root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements • Establishes standardized practices for supplier due diligence, qualifications and continuous improvement. • Analyzes customers’ product specifications to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of manufacture and reproducibility. • Develops process certification standards and assist in process certification • Provides leadership, development, coaching, mentoring and support for quality management team • Develops and ensures adherence to departmental budget; assures financial performance goals are met.
• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related discipline required. • ASQ Quality certifications or equivalent highly preferred. • 10-15years quality related experience in manufacturing industry, 5 years in quality leadership or management role. Experience with Asian manufacturing and/or supplier management desired. • Experience with leading team of Quality Managers. Ability to identify challenging objectives, build consensus with key stakeholders, and demonstrate progress in a timely manner. • Experience in Plastics molding, metal forming and assembly operations highly desirable • Extensive experience utilizing formal problem solving methodologies (Six Sigma, 8D, etc.). • Familiar with all aspects of Quality Management systems. Experience implementing best practices across multiple facilities and preferably global experience. (PFMEA, DFMEA, PPAP) • Experience with executing Quality’s role in Design for Manufacturing (DfM) • Ability to effectively lead diverse workgroups such as management, non-management, and contract labor work groups and manage remotely located employees. • Understanding of global and regional government regulations related to juvenile product manufacturing. • Exemplary oral and written communication skills with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before large groups of customers or employees of the organization; ability to provide timely status updates and report on assigned projects and organizational performance. • Approximately 25% International travel is required.
