Job Summary

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis supports the forecasting and analytical processes for the revenue cycle operations of the Company. S/he will provide financial consulting and strategic advice to revenue cycle management (RCM) leaders to support achievement of functional business objectives. S/he is responsible for leading the annual budgeting process for revenue cycle operations; producing cash collections and DSO forecasts and providing revenue analytics including operating expense variance analysis. 

A key objective for this role is providing insights to support optimal business decision making and performance management. The Director will guide and support RCM leadership in developing and tracking key performance indicators and recommend actions to improve performance.  The Director plays a key role in the success of the revenue cycle operations and will lead, participate in and have responsibility for multiple high priority special projects concurrently.

The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management and will have high visibility and influence across the revenue cycle organization. This position will work closely with all members of the revenue cycle leadership team, including the Chief Financial Officer.


    1. Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cash collections, SWB, and other operating expenses
    2. Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of variance
    3. Identify opportunity to increase collection rate, decrease denials and reduce payment delays
    4. Prepare forecasts of cash collections and DSO by financial class
    5. Prepare ad-hocreporting and analysis
    6. Improve revenue cycle performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies
    7. Analyze revenue cycle operational information and reports to provide accurate and timely recommendations to management for decision making purposes
    8. Support revenue cycle management team and department heads with analysis and advice
    9. Oversee and manage the annual budgeting process for revenue cycle operations
    10. Prepare and present quarterly incentive calculations by hub to RCM leadership
    11. Understand and analyze total cost of revenue cycle operations, including variances to budget and progress toward achievement of long-term cost and productivity goals
    12. Collaborate with accounting to assess the reasonableness of the bad debt reserve
    13. Prepare quarterly and monthly financialreports
    14. Implement and work with business intelligence tools and dashboard reports
    15. Prepare presentations to Board of Directors and senior management team
    16. Relentlessly search for opportunities to drive efficiency across the revenue cycle operations
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned


Work Experience and Education


  • 10+ years’ experience in a financial analysis role with increasing responsibility; healthcare revenue cycle and/or healthcare financeexperiencepreferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or another analytical field
  • MBA or masterspreferred

  • Proven ability to work independently and cross-functionally to drive projects to completion

  • Willingness to travel (20% – 25%)
